for the curious...from the DMN blog regarding the final tally pro bowl fan votes

STRONG SAFETY
1. Roy Williams, Cowboys: 271,505

FREE SAFETY
1. Sean Taylor, Commanders: 258,544
3. Ken Hamlin, Cowboys: 157,689

http://cowboyszone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=106325&highlight=bowl

According to Adam's last post regarding the probowl vote - 12/4

SS -- Roy still has more than twice as many votes as anyone else. Atari Bigby is second and LaRon Landry is third.

FS -- Sean Taylor got a lot of votes to increase his lead over Brian Dawkins. Hamlin is less than 10,000 votes out of first. Nick Collins is third, and there's a gigantic dropoff to No. 4, Gibril Wilson.

That settles that but be careful with throwing around facts around here... we have ways of dealing with the likes of you. :)

LOL @ thinking because he got voted to the Pro Bowl, that means it's Roy has had a good season. The fans voted him cause they didnt know any better and he went from #1 on the fan vote to no where to be mentioned on the original roster cause on the coach and player votes, he had no real support. The only reason he's a pro bowler these past two years is cause he's a Dallas Cowboy. Plain and simple.

So, you admit Dallas is the premier franchise in the NFL.

I posted the correction later -- that should have said Hamlin was less than 10,000 out of second. In other words, he was less than 10,000 behind Dawkins. I was typing over a previous post from when Taylor was pulled out of the results (before the NFL put him back in). That's why all of the places are off by one. Taylor was first at the time, Dawkins was second, Hamlin third, Collins fourth and Wilson fifth.

Exactly why would I have to admit it? It's a fact. Atleast as far as popularity is. The Pats and Colts are the premiere franchises as far as production goes tho.

Thanks for the correction. I just did a quick search, because I knew the numbers were posted somewhere. So I just grabbed the first post I came across.

Last year, it was because he led all starting safeties in interceptions and takeaways. This year is more of a career honor, but he's hardly the first player to get one of those. Neither of them have anything to do with him being a Cowboy.

Roy is gonna lay a hit on someone in Honor of Taylor in the Probowl.

Nice to see he'd do it for Taylor in the Pro Bowl, but has yet to do it in a game that counts.

He left Reeves hanging....

So to cover Reeves arse because he bit on a double move Hamlin is supposed to leave Randle El wide open in the middle of the field?

Are you serious? Oh wait yes you are.

Taylor was already leading at the pro bowl vote before his death, so that claim is void.

what claim is void? The fact that coaches and players voted for taylor as a tribute? That is a fact unless you believe they did not know Taylor was murdered and really expected him to play in feb.

I just don't understand why people are obsessed with these big hits. They're terrible for the hitter's own health and they make the hitter prone to missed tackles. Roy made a conscious decision to quit going for those types of hits and it's made him better in the box. He was the leading solo tackler on our team and that's more important than a few big highlight reel hits.

Roy was not voted in originally. The players and coaches wanted to honor Taylor so they voted him in as a tribute, knowing whoever they selected as first alternate would make the team. So they selected Roy as the first alternate.

Mosely and Scruggs were not smart enough to pick up on this it would appear

As I suspected, I heard what they said entirely wrong.

I thought they said he took his name out, but they didn't.

He says that he can't back off the horse-collar because he has been doing it all his life, but when it comes to big hits and laying the wood, he has made a conscious decision to stop?

Or maybe it's just an excuse....

If you couldn't tell he was being facetious or sarcastic regarding the horse-collar comment, I don't know what to tell you.

The only reason he's going to the pro bowl is cause Taylor's dead.

One could make the argument that the only reason Taylor was voted in over Roy was because he died - it was done as a show of respect.

The coverage in the clip looks like cover 3.. Henry has left top, Hamlin has middle top and Reeves has right top, Ayodele has left underneath, Bradie has middle underneath and Roy right underneath. Reeves drives on the out route and then slips and can't recover for the up on the double move. Roy was being held close to the line of scrimmage by the TE leaving a lot of room for the out route to be open, which probably made Reeves bite even more.

Looks like Roy actually had decent spacing and the QB would have had to make a good throw to get it over Roy onthe out to Moss if Reeves had kept playing behind and was a little less aggressive.

Hamlin didn't do a very good job playing Cover-1 last weekend.

Lot's of people blaming Reeves for the TD...but Hamlin left him hanging out to dry.

:lmao:

That's a reach even by your standards, Hamlin picks up ARE coming over the middle on that play that TD is 100% on Reeves

Hamlin blows the deep coverage on this play.

Probably why Reeves took an inside technique on this route. He's looking to jump the out.
