You expect me to believe another year of Romo, Witten, Ware, Garrett is supposed to compete w/that?

Well, remember that I don't consider 8-8 to be miserable, to begin with. Frustrating but I consider us a team that's right on the cusp of contending and a good team if we had been able to fix the pass defense.

I also don't think that Denver team is special other than the WRs and the QB. They certainly didn't belong on the field with SEA and, honestly, I'm not sure a healthy Cowboys team wouldn't have given them a run for their money yesterday. I'M NOT SAYING WE'RE GOOD ENOUGH TO BE IN THE SUPERBOWL THERE. Only that Denver sure looked like a mediocre team themselves when they couldn't pass at will against a porous secondary.

They passed that way against plenty of NFL teams, which is why Manning shattered records. On the other hand, we like to use one game against Denver as an example of our genius offensive masterminds.

Instead of looking RKG's the hawks just find football players and have a coach with the charisma to hold them all together.

DEN was successful with it because most teams don't cover like SEA does. But SEA is going to cover like that no matter who they're playing.

Re: DAL and DEN...honestly, what I took from that game, along with the DET game, was absolute cement-reinforcement of the idea that we absolutely have to improve our pass defense if we're going to beat good teams with any consistency. I know I say it all the time, but it was black and white evidence in that game. Offensively, we played as well as we can ever expect our offense to play, and it was still not enough.
I don't think our offense is great. I think it's good enough to win with. That's all. I just don't see the point in wasting resources to try to get it even better when our pass defense is just as important and is very obviously among the very worst in the whole league.

Denver was successful because they were good offensively.

The Saints put up 300 yards passing against Seattle the second time they played them, and the Saints were not as prolific as Denver's offense.

And the Seahawks offense was average this year point blank. Improving the pass defense for the Seahawks isn't going to help Denver much.

Oh, I am sorry. Was not the thread theme along those lines?

Where is the "Hey guyZ, we are going to be champs next YEER!" thread?

I'm just always amazed that every time a team is crowned or just has a good game or good season so many people start comparing the Cowboys to that team so they can rag on Jerry and talk about how bad the Cowboys are AGAIN but if thats what you like doin have at it, its the internet. No offense intended it was my bad for clicking on a thread when I knew what it was gonna be about anyway.

Just imagine how good Seattle would be if they took advantage of the distinct advantages we enjoy from having our owner act as our GM.

Talk about blowing your mind, right there.

They remind me of our '92 team that destroyed Buffalo so easily.

Which then really depressed me to no end.

Made that comparison last night to those watching with me. Many similarities: youth, hard hitting D, smash mouth O, great special teams and an energetic character of a D-Minded coach. They should be good for awhile.

And in the real scheme of things, is there really much difference?

not really but the in scheme of things romo has been least of our teams issues but he seems to be made out to be THE issue.

Another point to illustrate where this franchise is in comparison.

We still claimed "moral victory" against Denver, who basically got their heads handed to them.

Because the teams that took the field yesterday are absolutely exactly the same as those in the first half of the regular season.

Agreed, .. I don't think if Seattle and Denver played last Sunday or next Sunday the results would be the same, .. so we can't compare regular season results and think they are the same.

It is gonna get ugly next year.

Uglier than Pam Oliver when she wake up and get out of her hammock. and half a drink of NesCafe.

Poor Poor us ....... we have it so bad.

Waaaaaaah

There, there, little Knanopsie. You half us, you half youth and you half mammaries of the Cowboys winning SB trophies so i cant be that bad. Stop your crying and I will take you to KiddieLand. Churros and popcorn are have-price on Mondays!

But, as you know, Jerra is the source of most of our troubles. From dumb salary deals to bad drafts to interferring with coaches to hiring nobody coaches. It is inevitable that we return to jerra as to what ails us.

Seattle looks solid but they and the niners are the same team. niners had some personnel issues early in the season and the Seahwaks got home field on them. Had the NFC title been in SF then it would have probably been SF destroying the Broncos. I think the packers and panthers will be just as competitve next season. Injuries dictate so much these days in the NFL.

The cowboys will probably be battling for the top draft pick. Have you seen their home schedule? Unless the they win some divisional games they might lose all their home games. If they land the top pick, I'm ready to blow up what's left and move on to Marioti. Of course Jerry might give romo a raise and extend him as the starter until 2025 ans trade down in the draft to take a franchise Guard and a 3rd TE in the 2nd round.

I think it is pretty clear this team's talent is quite overrated.

My point was that Jerry Jones is both, and everybody knows who he is because he is the mouthpiece and the face of the franchise.

Paul Allen stays where he belongs and let's Carroll do what he is supposed to do.

You do know that that is our problem, don't you?

Paul Allen raised the "12" flag before the NFC Championship. Not exactly a low-key owner who stays in the shadows. Jerry would get crushed if he did something like that; hell, he gets crushed just for being on the sidelines.

Injuries are the biggest reason we've disappointed the last couple years, and those have nothing to do with Jerry. Fix the D and you fix the Cowboys.

I understand your premis, but I have to ask....

You really didn't know who Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft, was?

I think the point here is you know who Paul Allen is, you just don't see him starring in Papa John's and Pepsi commercials and doing his own talk show.

Paul Allen stays out of the way and let's his staff do what they are supposed to do. So does Pat Bowlen, Robert Kraft, Jed York, Jeff Lurie, Clark Hunt, Jerry Richardson . . . . . I see a trend here . . . . .

The only owner who makes more noise other than Jerry is Jim Irsay, and even he has Ryan Grigson as a GM.

Jones needs to get a clue.

Jerry would get crushed if he did something like that; hell, he gets crushed just for being on the sidelines.

Jerry gets crushed for being Jerry, ... saying he is in charge of everything from socks to jocks, always on camera, always in the news, for trying to run the draft, for telling who is starting and who is injured, for calling out certain people that are injured, for bringing in bozo coaches (Campo), for bringing in over-rated over-the-hill coaches (Wade), for bringing in "coaches in training", ... I could go on, I'm sure others can contribute what I have forgotten.

We need a GM, not Jerry.
