Zack Martin does not report to camp

Zack Martin was given an NFL record highest paid Guard ever contract extension back in 2018. With 2 years still left in that contract, Zack Martin is trying to pull a stunt for another record paid new contract extension at 33 years of age. If he misses all of training camp, I would be looking to trade him and send him and the rest of the team a message that such actions will not be tolerated.
I believe the team already came to him to restructure prior, meaning they didn’t “fulfill” the contract.

This is the absolute worst thing that they can do.

For everyone criticizing Zack Martin for not honoring his current contract…have you not noticed that NFL teams routinely cut players before their contract is officially up? Once the guaranteed amounts are paid, NFL teams can usually cut a guy. So let’s not act like the teams honor the original contract in its entirety because they often do not.

Zack Martin is a first ballot HOFer. Rare talent like this is worthy of a better deal. Because thinking that the original contract should be honored is not understanding how the owners trample that anyway.
BH, there is a salary cap in play, Martin still has 2 years left on current well paid contract, plus 6+ young bucks are due for new contract extensions, not including Dak. Cowboys can't afford to keep paying top overall league pay for their Olinemen. Cowboys of the 90s never did it, and yet, they found a way to build their Oline into one of the best in NFL history while winning 3 Super Bowls with it.

He is my favorite current Cowboy. This 100% sure to be HoFer is beginning to be a bit underappreciated. If the Great Satan in Philly hears this, he might try to swoop in and grab him for a 5th.

Then again, does Zach really need a full training camp to be ready?
Coincidentally the Eagles have a whole at RG and only have a 3rd round rookie who played T and an undersized C fighting for that spot. They don't have the space to sign him to a new deal though.

Well, start looking for trading partners and get a 1st and 2nd round picks for Martin.
Well, I don’t think that works well for the future of the organization as far as all-time greats here that are adored by fans wanting to sign here. Dallas will have to do some major damage control in the future by over-paying some “mediocre” talent relative to ZM.

Zack simply doesn't want to participate in training camp. He'll sit until the week leading to the final preseason game, work the rust off and be back in the lineup for the first regular season game.

Bro, Jerry and the Cowboys seriously need to start re-evaluating the past overpaying ways and nip it in the bud. If they don't, they won't be able to keep young talent and field a competitive team.

There is no GM dumb enough to give up a first for a 33 year old Guard who also wants a new deal. RG is also the least important position on an OLine.
Hey, but most everyone here say Zack Martin is a future HOF'er in his prime who deserves to get top overall pay ONCE AGAIN and be kept. Right?

Not on our line.. Dallas runs the majority of their run plays behind ZM. Zeke in 2020 said thus explicitly and called him the best player on the offense. When he was shelved for the season, the drop off was huge.

I agree, but this is ZM here, who is generational. I don’t think he qualifies for being over-paid.
Ok. Give him a $1.5 mil/year bump for a 2-3 year extension. If he refuses but wants $20 mil/year, what would you do? Still pay him or look to trade him? Tough times call for tough choices.

I’m laughing at you trying to spin that Tyler Smith is all of a sudden better than Martin at a position he’s never played in his life.
@America's Cowboy

I wouldn't laugh at any predictions of greatness for Tyler Smith. His physical ability is very rare.

Having said that, he won't play RG. It will only be left side.

no surprise at all .. if he is really serious about a re-new contract he's gotta call the Cowboys bluff .. and try to make it up for those daily fines.

If it were the regular season ..and he's still holding out .. then it's a Monster Concern !! :(

The thought of Zach playing between Johnson and Kelce is scary.

You don't know for sure if Tyler Smith can't/won't play Right Guard. He's shown he is smart enough to play both Left Guard and Left Tackle.
