Well, i found some time to watch the video.
Of course he is very provocative but he has some very valid points.
There probably are some GM’s and HC’s who aren’t concerned about the ramifications down the road cause if they don’t win now they’ll probably be fired anyway. Two questions:
Who is the GM so secure in his job that he will offer up this "haul", then make Zeke the league's highest paid running back, all while clearly having no fear of future suspensions?
- He says the "Vikings haven't missed the playoffs", who did they play this year, because I missed it?
- He keeps talking about "getting this haul" from some team. Please let me know both the haul you think you're getting and the team you're getting it from?
Who is that guy?
I’m trying to recall when a player has held out two years before their Rookie contract is up?Cowherd is generally the most accurate talk show host. Ok. I see you think you have a winning strategy so you want to waste time going down a hole here. The contract is written to give the owners all the power. Or are we disagreeing on this also just to make a message board argument? The players only leverage they have is to chose whether they want to sell their services at the rate provided. Not true. Although you can find an owner occasionally agreeing to do something verbally and then not doing it, if it's in the contract, the owners do it.
Can you name some of these broken contracts by owners?
He makes a compelling case.
you do realize the contracts they sign are completely one sided. They have no real freedom or say in their contract. The terms of these contracts are put in place by one party to the agreement, so to say make them honor their word.... that isnt really acurate.Pay him AFTER his contract is up. Teach these young men to honor their word and commitments. Allowing these delusional kids to break agreements further stunts their maturity.
I’m not sure either is comparable to Elliott.comparing the herschel deal to today is absolutely FOOLISH. The Cowboys stunk and were going nowhere with Herschel, so it made total sense. Why didnt Collin compare this to when Emmitt held out? Much more similar situation. Both teams have massive talent around the back.... didnt see Jimmy in any rush to trade emmitt.
If that’s our attitude to suck all you can out of Elliott before you let him walk then there might be some validity to these rumors and Elliott wants to force the issue now. Now im not arguing to give zeke a new deal, actually the opposite. You have him by the balls and should suck aall you can out of him on the cheap while you can.
Just because a contract is written one sided doesn’t change spirit of the action of reneging on the agreement. I get what you are saying 100%. But in a one sided business agreement this is the only leverage a player has to protect their interest.
We all know this. Some just choose to look at the literal definitions of agreement and contracts to make their case. This topic deserves understanding from both sides of the debate.
and the Cowboys have held up their end of the deal... didnt they? Im assuming Zeke was paid all the money due per the contract??Zeke held up his side of the deal.
2 rushing titles in 3 seasons.
Hes only making 3.8 mil.
SHOW ME THE MONEY JERRY
That’s not crazy . If we accumulated enough 1st round picks we might be in position to draft Trevor Lawrence in 2 years.Keep the band together for 2019. Attempt to win the SB.
Here's what I do if I'm the GM.
March 2020:
-Trade Zeke Elliott for 1st and either a 2nd or 3rd, whatever I can get.
-Tag and trade Prescott for a 1st and two 2nds plus a mid round pick, or two 1sts and a 2nd. Whatever I can get.
- Get whatever compensation I can for Taco Charlton if it's at least a 5th rounder.
- Sign Amari Cooper 5 years/90 million with a lot of guaranteed money, if he's not already extended by then.
- Sign Jaylon Smith, Byron Jones to long-term contracts.
- Consider extending Chidobe Awuzie, Xavier Woods (if he shines in 2019) and Michael Gallup to save money in the long-term.
- No need to worry about LVE because he's got that 5th year option to leverage another year there.
- Let La'el Collins walk; likely score 2021 3rd-round compensatory pick
- Bring back Antwaun Woods for a few years. Nose tackles aren't expensive in today's NFL and he is young.
- Take it slow on Maliek Collins, re-signing him if the price is right and the comp pick for losing him is low.
April 2020:
- Trade up to draft a premium QB in the 2020 Draft. It is an excellent draft for top-end QBs. This nets us a brand new rookie QB contract.
- Select QB at the top of the 2020 Draft.
- Select a running back high and continue to stockpile on defense, hopefully drafting a stud SS in the process.
This frees up a TON of cap space and blasts open a brand new championship window. It's the best way to run the team, frankly.
The downside of that particular route is that we're basically punting the 2020 season without a QB. Even with such a talented roster around the QB, if we give Mike White the 2020 season with next to no experience we're probably looking at 4-12 or possibly worse. But, on the bright side, that would mean a top 5 pick in 2020, which combined with all those other picks we could easily trade up to #1 if necessary. That’s not crazy . We could always pick up a formidable back up or aging veteran as QB in 2020. Even a later than 1st round pick who could eventually serve as Trevor’s backup or competition until he’s fully developed and ready. We wouldn’t have to concede to a 4-12 type season. The downside of that particular route is that we're basically punting the 2020 season without a QB. But... honestly, missing the playoffs and being terrible is the same to me as getting there and losing. So...
- Win the SB in 2019
- Go 3-13 in 2020 and find a way to get the #1 pick, either by draft status or by trade
- Contend for another SB in 2021 and many years beyond
may not be a bad thing.
This will end up costing you more.
I dont see his trade value as high. Whoever trades for him is going to be expected to sign him after the traded. Likely to a contract that makes him the highest paid HB in the NFL. Thats going to lessen his trade value. A really doubt a team would trade a 1st for himI think we gotta get more then just a first round pick for him but I think we can Catch. Look, if he wants to sit the season and play it that way and we got a decent offer, I'd trade him too. I think he's a great player but I don't see him as a guy who might be here producing at a high level for a really long time. I don't think he's E. Smith.
