I like how the narrative that Dak is a bad quarterback continually gets extinguished on a daily. The haters that dig their heels in look idiotic. I'm sure it's because of your vexatious love affair with that notorious, 2 playoff wins choker who never was gonna be a champion, that preceded him
A Dak and Romo hater...refreshing lol.

If he's the league leader, he's obviously far above the average.

Literally how statistics work.

No, that's half heartedly looking at stats. One standard deviation within a small sample group of 32 could be 1% or 100%+ depending on the stat.

Just assuming the difference between #1 and #16 is a dramatic difference is just lazy research. In this case it may or may not be, I really dont know. But what I do know is the context of the stat matters.

sure.

They don't count bad throws but nice try.
I think half the debate of this thread is they often do count bad throws. I've posted links in the thread showing the cowboys being counted as having anywhere from 26 drops to 51 drops in 2019. A lot of this is subjective until we get a firm definition of what a drop is, which is probably even more complicated that determining what a catch is.

Receivers drop "catchable" passes and quarterbacks make "bad" throws on every team, Dallas/Dak is no exception. Many times it comes down to a crucial drop, or a spectacular catch or throw to win games. Would Dallas have lost to Seattle if the snap to Romo wasn't bad? Would the Steelers have won the SB if Ward hadn't make the fantastic catch of a horrible pass and managed to toe tap after the catch? What if Carroll had run Beast Mode instead of trying a risky pass into the teeth of the defense? What if Walls had played Clark instead of peeking at the quarterback?

Dak attempted 596 passes last year, if he had thrown a few more passes better or the receivers had not dropped quite so many, would that really have brought this team to the SB?

Neither the drops or the bad passes were the reason this team didn't win the SB, it just wasn't good enough. If making the playoffs or winning the division is all that someone cares about, then the drops/bad passes probably could have gotten the Cowboys to that point, but all that would do was result in a worse draft position, you play the game to win it all, division titles and playoff games are just nice stats to brag on. Dallas has the highest winning percentage of ANY team, ever. That's nice, but the Pats and Steelers have 6 SB wins, we have 5, that's what matters.

You can blame Dak all you want, but I seriously doubt if they'd had Mahomes they'd have won the SB...

If he was accurate he wouldn't have soooooooo many drops.
High, behind, words usually used when Dak is throwing lemons...
You didn't even bother to watch the video did you? Just mindlessly repeating your mantra like broken record.

There were a few passes that were difficult, but overall it was catches that should have been easy to make. In any case, it wouldn't count as a drop if the pass weren't catchable without extraordinary effort.

You might want to actually check out the guys twitter account. I think you’ll dig it.

i mean, his entire thing is “QB Data Mine”

He’s a statistics guy from the real definition, not the term so loosely thrown around. Like real, honest to god math ... and stuff.

The criteria used to determine what is and is not an “accurate pass” isn’t just something applied to Dak for this one video, it’s the underpinning of his entire work.

It’s really quite fascinating and a rabbit hole worth diving into. He’s a terrific follow if you like the nitty gritty of QB play.

I’ve linked a tweet that is pretty straightforward and is likely in line with what you are looking for.

Also linking some other Dak data from the guy.

I’ve also linked one about Wentz that I’m particularly fond of. =D

Haters going to ignore the Wentz stat hard lol

I have Dak barely in top 12 QB and he is asking for #1 money. In other words, Houston we have a problem.

LOL........top 12 QB after 4 years in the NFL and you say that like its not a compliment?

He also isnt looking for #1 money. You trolls really are pathetic.

You don't pay filet minion money for pork chops.
Thats how the market works.

it’s mignon, and it’s overrated. And when dealing with Berkshire and Kurobata pork you can reach those prices in a hurry.

You seem to just not know what you’re talking about in general.

Just looking at that, Dak needs to work on putting more air under some throws. Not excusing the drops, but it stands out watching that. It's a lot easier to catch a pass behind you with a little air bc it allows you time to adjust your body to the trajectory of the ball. He needs to take some of the heat off of his dump offs. MM should help with this stuff.

I knew someone was going to say it. But to me, his passes gets to the receivers too quick some times. More touch is needed. Thats just my opinion and opinions vary just like beliefs.

Per Pro Football Reference, Dak 1st in drops, 2nd highest percentage of drops. You can compare all QBs here.
https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2019/passing_advanced.htm
When Rogers and Brady are the 1st and 3rd worst for bad passes it causes me to wonder what these stats are really measuring.

Might it be that Rogers and Brady put passes only where their guys can get the ball, and if they can’t get it no one can? The video does show catchable balls, but in most of them the receiver is adjusting. I do think his new throwing motion improved his accuracy, and clearly he didn’t get a lot of help, but I don’t consider catchable the same thing as accurate.

On the heels of the thread where he was 2nd in the league in 3rd down completion % comes the lead the league in drops. If one of them is held onto...he is the cowboys all time single season passing leader. If they catch half of those drops...we are in the playoffs and win the division.

Discuss...

Did anyone ever stop to think that there is probably a correlation between an inaccurate pass and drops ?
So Cooper drops a ball on first down and Dak misses a wide open Jarwin 40 yards down field on 3rd down but stats show each guy has one drop and one missed pass.
