Make that a 3 year 71mil deal, when a 5 year 175 mil deal was on the table. Yup, really smart.
Where are you getting the 3rd year, additional $2 M from? Are you talking about the last year of his rookie deal? Because that's already established by the league. Your agent has nothing to do with that. In fact, the reason it went all the way up to $2M is because Dak hit on all of his incentives.
As far as your 5-year, $175 M deal. We'll have to revisit that in 5 years to see if he was right or not. If he plays under the cap for 2 years and $69M, he'd only need a 3-year deal at more than $106M to beat that. He'll be 28 at that point and if he hits his average stats of a 97 QB rating, 3,944 yards passing, 24 TD, 5 INT, 305 rushing yards, and 5 rushing TD, which isn't that hard to imagine with significantly better coaching, he's probably going to surpass that contract. Dak has always said he's willing to gambling on himself. He's probably not a top 5 QB in the NFL, despite his contract demands, but he was a 2-time 1st All SEC QB, Rookie of the Year, and 2-time Pro Bowler. I can see why he is choosing to gamble on himself.
