I listened to what Dane said on the draft show. Sounds like they want Collins at 3/4 outside linebacker. Sounds like more of a replacement for Aldon then Jaylon. On a side note KT is such a tool. He said the Cowboys need to make decisions on a defensive coach and Jaylon now so they know who to draft. No they don’t. They can cut Jaylon at anytime and they probably know who they want as the their next defensive coordinator. As much as I can’t stand the Joneses they get who they want.

I think he's much better suited at being an off the ball backer. He was a pretty good blitzer at Tulsa but if you're asking him to be an edge player at the next level it's basically a position change being a 3/4 OLBr.

I think he gives you some juice as a blitzer but I love his ability in coverage and his instincts against the run to be a solid off the ball LBr in the NFL.

thats just a wasted pick then,he is better off used as a swiss knife like in college,he is far more valuable that way to a defense.

How would he be a wasted pick? 6’4 260lbs pound sledge hammer who can rush the passer, cover and is a play maker. 4 picks and 4 sacks in a season is incredible for a linebacker.

Absolutely love this kid...10 is rich for me but if we trade down to the late teens I could get in board.

Doubt he’ll last til our 2nd pick if he tests well.

I like him too but at 10..................... hmmmmmm

Agreed. I love him but wouldn't take him at 10.

If he played at a bigger school and had the same production he'd be up there with Parsons IMO.

If the first pick doesn't weigh 320 pounds and can get consistent penetration into the backfield I'm not interested.

I think this kid can play. Would love Parsons to be there at 10 but don't see it happening. The board value likely leads to taking Surtain or Farley or Horn to man the corner. Then possibly trade back into the 1st for Zaven Collins or a DT late in the 1st.

I would be happy if they drafted Dylan Moses from Alabama in the 2nd. The front 7 needs a talent injection for sure! DT (1tech/NT) and LB have to be addressed ASAP! Safety as usual remains a must too. Smh...

Yeah I know. Wouldn’t mind Collins. Every draft year I start to like a guy who I don’t see much pub on. I get my hopes up that no one knows about this guy and we might have chance of getting a steal. It goes back to Jerry Rice, than Darryl Revis , and Aaron Donald. I start seeing him climb the draft boards and I start thinking to myself there is no way we are going to get him. This time and age the draft simulators don’t help since some of the players they rank a lot lower than most have.
Yeah, I was there with you on Aaron Donald for sure. I was on his bandwagon when he was still ranked as a second round pick because of his short arms, lol. I went from saying:

We needed to use our second round pick on him to

We need to trade up from the second to the late first to

We need to trade back from 16 into the 20’s to

Just pick him at 16 to

We need to make a move up for Donald by draft week.

I love Zack Martin but I wanted Dallas to get Donald more than any draft pick that I’ve scouted. I was super bummed. Damn Jeff Fisher...

That is exactly what I thought when Donald was coming out. I like Martin but I wanted Donald so bad. I was bummed also.

Parsons gets knocked for not having the greatest instincts, doesn’t this bother anyone?

His instincts are + and most scouting reports note that. The concern now is there are apparently maturity issues.

Collins is a 3-4 edge or a 4-3 SAM in the NFL. He's got nothing to do with LVE or Jaylon, he'd be a replacement for, like, Dorrance Armstrong.

You can't do a lot of what makes him effective at Tulsa in the NFL.
i agree. Fit matters. I think 10 is too high. And his workout is going to have to be really impressive to elevate himself to where we are picking.

Don't understimate the Jones' constant effort to appear clever.

I really like Collins. His film is amazing. He flashes when watching games live. If he tests well, 10 is not crazy, still seems high for him though.

Reminds me of a little bit of Rolando McClain.....and remember McClain was drafted 1/8 by the Raiders....So maybe 10th overall might not be so rich after all. Watching his clips....you see a lot of 3-3-5. Makes you wonder if that is something we are looking @.. that direction on defense...Interesting though...He moves all over....runs pretty good for a big guy.

DE-D-Law
NT-Hill/Neville
DE-Gregory/Aldon
SLB-Collins
MLB-LVE
WLB-Smith
LCB-Diggs
SS-Wilson
FS-2nd round draft pick
NCB-Lewis (resign)
RCB-Free agent

McClain was a more traditional MLB. Much more physical at the point of attack. More of a thumper.

This is Jerry admitting that Jaylon and LVE were terrible picks.

I think if the Cowboys continue with more of a multiple scheme, Collins is an excellent fit.
