Good morning Pops and Friends,

Happy Monday to everyone.

Well, I am back in Texas this week where the air is heavy, the temperatures are hot and TexMex is in abundance.

My bother, his wife and I are moving our mother to assisted living. This has been a long time coming and, quite frankly, mother has resisted the move at every step -- at least until the last few months.

Yesterday was a pre-packing day and, although we got a lot done, we got severely sidetracked looking at old, old, photo albums. Without getting too nostalgic, this was such great fun -- like walking into a cool home after spending the day outside in the sun... just refreshing.

If you haven't done it in a while, pull out a few photo albums and reminiscence.

I don't blame your Mom, there is mental spike that accompanies that. The lady that lives next door to me has been fighting that with her sons and daughter-in-law and she is fiercely independent. They have taken her car away from her and left a golf cart for any emergency.

I hope I do not live long enough to have to face that or put my sons in that situation. Being alive isn't necessarily living.

Thanks; sounds all too familiar. She is convinced that moving to assisted living to tantamount to having one foot in the grave. That said, she really enjoys the special attention they provide in assisted living.

Morning Pops and special thought to Colo for coming to Texas at the beginning of August, the month that proves hell actually exists. I know, I know, I said I wasn't going to complain about the weather but that winter storm has faded somewhat from memory and this weather is now.

The Texas summer reminds me of when I traveled by air just about every week and would be flying back to DFW and the pilot would come on the PA and announce the time and temp and I'd hear a few groans but nothing like what I would hear and see when people, not used to that, were deplaning and hitting that jetway. I actually had people stop dead still as if to say "nope, not going one more step. I've been tricked, the plane crashed while I was napping and we're all sentenced to hell". The blast from that heat was hard to describe and I could literally hear people gasp for air.

After re-reading several times, I finally get it. :) Thanks! And, no, he is not a bother.

We're in San Antonio

:muttley:
Is he a bother in other locations other than San Antonio? Is that where he is on his best behavior? We tried to get in a little trouble on the Riverwalk when we were down there. Man, I could sure use a tableside quac, a bowl of that smoked salsa and marg at Boudro's.

Happy Mon Afternoon Pops and friends- Colo wishing you the best with moving your mom to assisted living. That’s always a challenge. My wife and I in the last 3 months have moved my dad to a memory care facility and her parents to assisted living. It can be a flood of good memories mixed with some sadness. All the best to you and your family.

And sorry you had to leave that mountain air to join those of us stuck in the humid Texas heat. Maybe having a lot of the great Tex-Amex food down here is god’s way of saying “Sorry for the heat”, lol.

Good evening Pops and friends. Sorry for the late address, but I've been going down a Chris Stapleton YouTube rabbit hole, and I wanted to pass this on to the good people of this thread. I'm new to this guy's music, but I'm gonna try to catch up. @Xelda , I know you're not into country music, but give this guy a listen. He's got more soul than a lot of soul artists I've heard.
