Good morning Pops and Friends,

A bit of a melancholy start to the morning... gray, overcast skies, light rain and temperatures in the low 50's. If I didn't have so many things to do, it would be a great day to simply curl up with a blanket and a good book.

With expectations of another abnormally dry summer, we've focused our efforts on fire mitigation around the property. We consulted an arborist about the trees in our area and, while generally in great shape, we identified a number of trees to remove. Over the past couple of weeks, I have cut, split and stacked about 4 cords of wood. I am so sore that I have to strategically consider when and where I sit down, because I may not be able to get up.

On a more serious note, I can't get Uvalde out of my head. I grew up not to far from there and still have a few friends in the area. It is impossible to comprehend the loss of those children and, before I write something that could get me banned from this site, I will stop.

How far are you from the school shooting?
Not far enough, Uvalde is 80 miles west of San Antonio, which is southeast of Horseshoe Bay. It's about 2 hours from here.

I am gut punched and struggling to make sense of this and Buffalo and I still am not over Sandy Hook. The remembrance of that day is one of the darkest times I can ever recall.

I am so angry that I wouldn't want to do my duty if you did. I bounce between deep sadness and sorrow to rage that these events to continue to happen.

If you want something to help with this, watch the press conference with Steve Kerr before the playoff game.

I was driving on I-84 this morning, and happened to see a school bus taking the exit marked "Newtown/Sandy Hook". After the Uvalde event, seeing that renewed those feelings. The media needs to handle these things differently. I don't have the answer, but somehow, they need to stop people from thinking they'll become famous.

Would that Innocence was never affected by ignorance. The lives of others deserve our respect. It's a shame some lack the common sense to do so.

The seeds of destruction were not planted yesterday. They were nurtured for years leading up to yesterday.

The doctor said a bunch of stuff. She just came back from a conference and was shouting for me to get shots. Huh? Shots! You mean the booster? More shots! I'll give you a free sample. I'm thinking jello shots but no, reading material. Oh flip, I could have looked this up on line... if I wanted to. I was also supposed to give blood today, but my blood decided we were going to a local nursery and look at plants. Then my blood yelled "LOOK it's the frozen yogurt store! We need that!!!". I agreed and we made that left turn at Alburquerque. I put my spoon down and declared it was good.

Without any of the blood I was supposed to give twice, she had nothing to go on. Henceforth it's stay the course, part with my red juice soon and get some shots. Do I look like a danged pin cushion to you, woman? I didn't tell her about that dream where I strangled her. Figured it would not be good for patient/doctor relations. Any who.

I am giving up some blood this morning and you can tell her I stood in for you. Tell her I whimpered but did not cry.

And before any of you men ask, no, I will not stand in for your prostate exam. Pass on the hernia exam as well, already have one that can't be fixed at this time. A parting gift from the surgeries. Hell, I go into get fixed and they break something else.

Morning Pops and all you 3 day weekend revelers, I feel your joy and laughter.

Find just a little time in the next 3 days to remember those brave souls that risk their greatest gift to give for others and the sacrifices made so that we would enjoy these freedoms including to right to complain about everything we don't find to our liking.

Thank you Coachadoodles, but they won't recognize it as mine unless you threaten to pass out, demand a special needle, guarantee that your veins will roll and a few more unpeasantries. Give it a try, you'll find out quick who the new ones are.

Morning Pops and friends.

Welp, I'm in Long Island, at my second stop, waiting until 9:00 for them to open, because my dispatcher is an idiot. He knew what time they open, yet he has me going from here, all the way to Mamaroneck, NY, then out to Yonkers for a couple of stops. This is costing me 2 hours, plus the added traffic, even though we just came here yesterday.

Also, there's another driver doing stops on Long Island today who would have gotten here around 10:00, and it would have been his last delivery. I already saved him about an hour or so on his day, because he asked my opinion yesterday about how to do his run today, and I Google Mapped one of his stops I'd never been to, and saw that it was a house. So I told him to have the dispatcher call the customer and verify the address. As it turned out, it's supposed to go to a place 25 miles in the other direction.

I'm getting tired of working with so many people who suck at their jobs.
