Did you ever think that those in the know (Cowboys Coaches) understand the snap count/productivity levels of their players (Zeke and Pollard) better than those in background (Fans) who are what they are?

I considered it, then I listened to Jerry speak on the subject.

Why does this team need "the guy"? Poor coaching that can't make a modern NFL offense work? Perhaps.

Like in the Chicago game?

That game wasn't really a good example because it was the Bears AAA team out there on defense. They traded away their two best players on defense.. Well Roquan played but he was seen texting his agent "Get me the F outta here!" during the game.. Besides that Pollard can shine for a game or three was never in question. It's what happens in games that are tight and they need 20 or more carries from him? What if they need it two or three weeks in a row? What happens in games against stout fronts like Washington when there isn't going to be all those huge holes to run through? When every inch gained costs a pound of flesh? Those are the questions that Pollard needs to answer.

We obviously won't know those answers until he gets a chance to do it for more than a game or two. Maybe he's the exception and doesn't turn into one of those guys like CMac or Kamara who spend as much time in street clothes during games as they do playing after being promoted to lead back. Or who get beaten down and out of the league in a year or two like Marion Barber and Felix Jones did.. People take this analysis as some sort of Zeke-love/Pollard-hate. That's just dumb. Those of us who have been watching football a long time just know what we've seen which is generally backs like Pollard are better suited for spot duty. There is a sweet spot of utilization where you get the most out of them. Too much and they lose that big play ability. Too little and maybe it costs you games.. It's a fine line.. but Kellen Moore is making like 5 million a year to figure it out.. So figure it out.

The kind of crap fans blast him for is baffling as well.
Like empirically average performance? And as some stat folks have pointed out historically poor performance numbers. He’s basically demarco Murray with a historically significant offensive line to start his career where in volume he has huge numbers but in efficiency was a poor

And not one pass blocking assignment.

That wont; work against better teams.

why do you insist that one bank needs more than that? Imagine a 2nd back that didn’t go down on the first hit almost every time. That costs way less, is not a historically poor passing option, etc. the love for zeke just blows my mind.

Not sure what you are asking me. I ionly note it was an odd thing...to see a running back have ZERO pass blocking. It's not the indictment you are trying so desperartely to make it.

The hate for zeke....blows my mind.

He's limited to 131 rushing yards per game...

For reference Zeke averaged 108.7 yards/game in his best season.

I'll take 131 from Pollard regardless of how many carries he has in the process of getting the 131...
Well...excuse me...but...Tony is NOT averaging 131 yards per game.

Great point. LOL

If zeke had 150 yards 3 TD's and a long TD the Zeke apologists would be ranting and raving about how he was still a top 5 RB in the NFL.
Sure. Hey no matter how stupid, you have the right to post and feel how you feel!

He has played more snaps in other games.

What is more tiring:
Running a marathon with 14 stops for a water break.

Running a marathon with 30 stops for a water break.

Not sure why folks insist on making it a one or the other debate. Take a look around. Most teams employ two backs these days.

Jerry paying a small fortune for one of them is a different matter.

Okay sure. Just thought it was weird....and dishonest ....to present tony's nice one-game talley as a "per-game" average and a zeke season average.

Maybe you didnt mean it like that.

We just saw him used perfectly at Chicago.
Right, against Chicago. We've also seen him be much less successful against other teams. We have no idea how much better he would have done had Zeke been carrying the bulk of the carries either. People want to use one game to support their confirmation bias, but it doesn't work that way.

During the Sounds from the Sidelines video, he expressed how tired his legs were before he even peeled off that big TD run. More than around 15 carries will shorten his career and probably make it less productive per game.

I've never expected him to be "the guy". We knew he was never the workhorse RB in college, so if he ever has been it would have to have been in high school.

I just wanted the distribution of carries to even out.
