OBJ would be a mistake. He's not going to put the team over the top. It will be a lot of salary cap allocated to very little production when it's all said and done. Not to mention the distraction.

Improving the DL and OL would help.

To be fair...how do you know that 'he's not going to put the team over the top'? His history/track record suggests that it's possible. And have you seen the contract details? What kind of stats does he have to produce in order to make this a worth while signing? Lastly, if he distracts the team as much as he did to the Rams last year, his 'distraction' will be a blessing in disguise.

I mean USA today is quoting Jerry here. I dont think they would be stupid enough to fake quote Jerry Jones.

USA today has been quoting unnamed sources for many years now

Just another rag that would be out of business if it wasn't for hotels buying it and a certain foreign country subsidizing it

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.c...rsuit-of-odell-beckham-jr-is-very-much-alive/

Appearing on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas on Friday, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was asked whether the pursuit of Beckham is still alive.

Very much,” Jones said, via Jori Epstein of Yahoo Sports. “He and I want it to be alive, we all want it to be alive.”

Jones declined to disclose how close, if at all, a deal is.

That sounds less like the ‘done deal’ he was talking up on Thursday.

This guy (Jerry) should host his own show daily on the station. Just do 3 hrs from 9am-12pm and have guests, take calls, etc. Geez! He has been on The Fan 3 or 4 times this week. Smh

I didn’t realize that you’ve seen the terms of the deal already.
I know the Jonses wouldn't do it without protections they did it with Poe , Gregory and others.. no way they overpay for shot at zero games played for 2022/23 playoff. So did you see them?? im not worried. as ive seen the ay Stephen and jerry protect deals from FAs, NOT THEIR GUYS types...

fact is Jerry has all the leverage now, the other teams passed so far, less options now. perfect time to pounce..

that my fear but if our d can't hold the score down moves like having Washington, TY, and maybe OBJ offers up threats to make a play. nothing wrong with having more options.

I don't think MM will allow KM is truly big game like the playoffs and abandon the run.. However, some teams can try and succeed in taking that away like the 9ers. bucs and eagles. all have stout DLs and can dictate soem audiles into passes.

Hopefully KM learned something from last year and given the way hes used pollard/zeke in the run and pass games, has better feel to really open it up in the payoffs. KM is not using some plays that are successful some games over and over as i believe he saving them for game they become necessary. like a lot more wheel routes, screens, and plays to Pollard, zeke and turpin and even seen Lamb looking like threat behind the line of scrimmage...

that 9er game was torpedoed by 11 Offensive line penalty's, had plays called back and 2nd and 10-15-and 20 was the norm. hard to keep flow in play calling behind the chains all game.

I have to think that this will be a puffed up multi year contract that looks bigger than it is. And it will ultimately be a try before you buy deal with an option to pick up or not immediately after the season.

We had some 3T with a deal like that. Coming off an injury. First season nothing. Second season like 10mil. Not guaranteed. Didn't happen.

But I don't see why Odell would sign such a thing. Better to heal up and work a big contract.

Unless OBJ just ain't gonna heal up, and he's going with the only sucker who will give him millions w/o a true workout. And give him a lot of media coverage. If you ain't gonna play no more, gotta work your visibility as hard as you can while you still have some.

As far as health goes, smells like Terry Glenn to me. I was a big fan of Glenn, but we held a spot open on the roster for a guy who would never be fit to play in the NFL again. Cost us against the Giants big time.

I was originally against the T.O. signing, but I had to admit he played well for us. If OBJ is a team player and helps us win, then I'm happy.
well TY as well look how a vet like even AC came in and almost instantly was in sync with Dak.. hope TY will have positive effect even if its only 5-6 snaps game. not counting on OBJ but same concept but playoffs only.

I think the option would have to be considerable. Like putting tens of millions in his hand immediately in a bonus. Otherwise, they have to cut him loose. Basically a right of first refusal type deal. If we won’t pay him, we can’t keep him.

If OBJ is going to happen, the perfect time to announce it is Philadelphia Eagles/Christmas week.

For optimal press coverage and hype.
