Is that why we signed TY Hilton and have pursued OBJ? Looking at Gallups stats his first couple years, and he was much more of a deep threat then than now. I am just glad we signed TY.

no, in today's NFL you need to be 3 deep at reciever (including TEs in that equation), specially if you don't have an Elite QB....with that said, with Gallup, my concern is not his speed, its his drops....he has to make some of those catches, but he has dropped some balls and he is not as physical as he needs to be sometimes....

He's not at his full explosion, yes.
That is very typical of the injury he suffered.

The good news is he has played a ton of snaps and not re-injured it.
And he is developing some of the soft skills around his athleticism.
The team expected that and his injury meant he could be signed at an AAV of 11.5M which is well below market for a big-play WR2.

The bad news is he is not much of a deep threat and more a WR3/4 right this second than a big-play WR2.
And his contract rate goes up next year.
If he is not back next year he likely won't be around in 2024 as his deal offers the early out.

it's crazy how people forget this guy is coming back from an acl injury....you don't just return to normal in a year. he'll be fine eventually. He needs kudos for coming back when he did. He likely should've still been rehabbing most of the year.

Gallup is still trying to build strength in his knee that he had surgery on, it takes time to get it dialed in. This is why signing OBJ was a reach at best since his coming off TWO KNEE SURGERIES in two years. Gallup is a gamer and will help this club anyway he can.

Seems like he has lost his jumping ability. This is the second game in a row that he has elevated about two inches on a jump ball.
elevated very well on that near TD he lost in the sun. Stop exaggerating.,geez..he had solid game.. lts stop picking on players after big win. hes getting better each game and will be fine.

Go back and watch his jump ball against the Saints in 2021, and the jump ball against Washington in 2019. Then tell me he still has the same jumping ability after the ACL tear.

I’m not bashing the guy I still like MG the OP asked a question and I answered with my opinion.
