There’s not much belief in this team

Unlike years past, it feels that fans and the media are just not hopping into the bandwagon with this team.

Dare I say it, I think we will go into an underdog for the first two playoffs game if we are so lucky
So many long time fans like myself have seen so much post season failure from this team the past 27 years, that we are just conditioned to expect the worse.

East Coast biased media is shaping the narrative.

I remain confident and believe in this team. We've seen the Cowboys overcome many games that would have led to losses. For example, we don't go 4-1 without Dak under Red.

They lost games they held leads in (Packers, Jags) but for the most part they handled business (12-4).

In a league in which the entire conference is pretty much lame, we have an excellent chance of being less lame.
There are no great teams in this league, only what parity has left us to view.

i don't see anyone calling the cowboys an under dog in the wildcard round. After that maybe depending on opponent.

I think they are going to dominate the WC game then go into Philly and give them all they can handle. The Divisional game is going to be the game of the year.

Don't think it has anything to do with bias or whatever "unfair" thing fans can conjure up. This team just doesn't "look the part" yet. Had a great-looking defense, so-so offense when Dak was out. Dak's back and the offense looks good but now the defense looks shaky. Until both can click, no one's going to give us due. You hope they can put it together in the playoffs and go on a Giants-esque run. That can happen if the defense can reclaim what it had earlier in the season.

I'm probably the outlier then.

I feel pretty confident that they will win their WC game and with how flawed the rest of the NFC is this year, nothing would surprise me after that.

The Vikings are pulling it out of their tail every week, the 49ers are rolling with a 3rd string QB (though he's pretty decent) and the Eagles, all of a sudden, have injury issues.
None of the teams "look the part" right now.

This is a solid, well-rounded team. Not great, but that's not required this year.

The two overtime losses to Green Bay and Jacksonville have soured the outlook for many fans. The Cowboy’s defense gave up leads of 14 points and 17 points respectively in those two overtime losses. If not for those losses, the Cowboys would be sitting at 13-2, and hold the number one seed in the playoffs.

Although the defense can be rightfully credited with keeping the team live early in the season when Cooper Rush was filling in for Dak at QB, it seems as though they have taken a big step back since Dak returned. It’s almost as if the explosion in the offensive scoring has given the defense an excuse to relax. Sacks are down dramatically, and overall the defense has been playing poorly.

Certainly, a big reason for this is the loss of Lewis and more importantly, Anthony Brown in the secondary. But Micah Parsons is visibly not the same player he was early in the season, and the Cowboys have suffered a decline in performance as a result. Hankins was another costly loss on the defensive line.

I believe that fans are skeptical of the Cowboys both because of recent history in the playoffs and because of the decline in defensive performance. The saying, “Defense wins Championships” may be somewhat of a myth, as only 2-3 of the Super Bowls have been won without a potent offense to go along with a good defense. But the defensive decline in the latter part of this season has a lot of fans ready to write off the Cowboys.

Great reply.... I'm just tired of the dumpster diving that the Joneses keep doing. I totally get it with Dak's, Zeke's and Tank's contracts, they can't afford much and stay within cap...

Is it possible this Cowboys team will end the year as Super Bowl champs? Sure, that's possible. And Kristen Stewart might show up on my doorstep begging me for sex, and the Pope might become Jewish. There's been a lot of disappointment over 27 years, and so I'm just not getting my hopes up. If I were putting big money on this, I would pick San Fran in the NFC and Buffalo in the AFC. This Cowboys team does look like a playoff-level team. It just doesn't look like a championship-level one. In the NFC, the 9ers and the Eagles look better, and I wouldn't guarantee a victory against the other NFC playoff teams either. If this team plays great and wins two playoff games, but gets bested by a better team in the NFC title game, I'll be ecstatic.

I'm not making any Super Bowl plans that involve the Cowboys, just like I'm not booking any romantic cruise with Kristen Stewart, and I'm not buying a Menorah with the Pope's picture on it.

Until the Cowboys get the 27 year old monkey off their collective backs, it’s completely understandable why much of the fan base and media are not buying in. In fact, there’s not really a bandwagon to get on yet IMO.

I have hope in this team for sure. Do I have faith in this team? No. You can’t create believers until you’ve proven you’ve done something outside the norm. The norm for this team in the 21st century is to flirt with being good but folding when it matters most. They’ve done it over and over. Until they crack that glass wall, why should there be “belief”? I don’t fault anyone who believes or doesn’t believe. It’s all part of being a Cowboys fan.

No one thought they’d win 12 games with Tyron and Dak missing 17 games.

It's best when the media doesn't have faith in us.

When they had faith in us last year, that didn't go so well. But everyone who was watching the Cowboys the entire year should've known that losing to San Francisco was a high possibility.

I mean you could be a lions fans or Vikings fan. Some of you are just a bit spoiled with the whole sb or bust bs

enjoy the ride it only comes around once a year and we’re going to win at least 12 games

They haven't been consistent or convincing enough to earn belief. Also, everyone is starting to clue into the fact that we are plagued with a terrible culture of complacency. Every year they let us down so why would we get our hopes up unless they were showing us something different and they haven't. They have looked much better in years past and they couldn't do it so what makes this year different? It's not like the competition is worse. SF is better than last year and they beat us, the Eagles are better than us with Hurts starting, etc.
