Daniel Jones playing hardball with Giants on new contract

Hmmm. Each situation is different.

Do you think part of his motivation is that the team around him and the coaching staffs (until last year) has been pretty crappy during his time there and he wants to get protected from being run into the ground if they don't get him some help?

In no way do I think he's worth these amounts, regardless of the "QB market" but I can sorta see his POV in taking this stance.

Would be sorta interesting if they couldn't come to terms & he ended up with the Jets ....

In fairness, he had no weapons other than SB & still got them to the playoffs. So, I gotta give him some credit.
I mean should those weapons be demanding top dollar contracts? Or their average defenders? He was not impressive in any way and did nothing to suggest he is even above the Kirk Cousins line but he wants a top 5 contract.

And that's never happened before in the league.

Usually when a player has a breakout year in a contract the breakout is not reaching the level of mediocrity. Unless Russell Wilson is the baseline then I just don’t see what he is hoping for here. He is legitimately the 3rd or 4th best QB available if he hit open market.

And that’s exactly how we got to this same spot with Prescott,

What are they supposed to do? It’s either pay him well beyond what he is worth or start over.
If those are the two options, I choose ‘start over’.

Jones isn’t worth close to that amount.

And the Giants succeeded due to team effort, not Jones carrying everything.

Pay a mediocre QB no better than Kirk Cousins like he's a top 5 QB in the league?

That's never happened before.
