Danny was a really good QB that was on a team that had drafted poorly in spots in the 80's. So the team around him was fading. Despite that, he had us within 1 win of being in a sb 3 TIMES.

Wait a minute. I thought it was all Dak's fault. Now we need help at other positions.

I am not personally invested in any player. Our current contract situation is committed to Dak. We have no current replacement nor could we afford one.

Options are the following:

1. Rebuild

2. Go all in with Dak.

Reality is you can't really do both at the same time.
Saying it is all Daks fault is hyperbole. Most of us just know that he's not worth his salary cap so he NEEDS a ton of support.

Dak and his agent are gonna stick it to Jerry so there will be no discount

I'd rebuild. It's an aging offensive line, no run game, way to many holes to fill in the front 7.

This will be an ugly season regardless

He was a great HC too. In the arena league he won the Chip. He knows what hes talking about when he talks what it takes.

I agree OLine has to be fixed regardless of who the QB is now or in the future.

Fumble against the Niners late in the 4th killed us.

He's right that the whole team is a problem in these big games.. including the QB. But Dak is a deer in headlights. I certainly don't see a guy capable of "the drive" to win a championship.

You would think with advertising money that comes with being America's QB, would allow him to take a team friendly deal.

I think there would be a chance that Dak would do so but his agent may have his own interests in mind.

Agent works for the player. I am sure agent gets paid in his advertising deals as well.

I think everyone on the team, and Dak, has to improve for us to take the next step. 3 independent truths about the last 3 playoff losses are accurate.
1. Dak played bad
2. The rest of the team played bad
3. The coaches got outcoached.

I think it’s shortsighted to blame everything on Dak and leave his teammates alone. Likewise blaming the rest of the team and leaving Dak alone.

The coaches, QB and rest of team all couldn’t handle the moment and all three can’t win against tough teams.

Playing QB for the Cowboys is a club, a tight knit community and none of them are about to speak ill of one another. So of course he supports Dak. Danny,in his day, was every bit as clutch as Roger at various times. Took us to 3 NFC Title games with aging/declining teams. Hes the Oliver Twist of Dallas QB's. Never gets his just due. I can see why he sticks up for Dak. I think he sees some of himself in his game. If Dwight Clark doesn't make the catch in 1981, that's ball game more than likely and Dallas goes to another SB and likely beats Cincy. We would have a totally different take on Danny White in Cowboy lore. Our defenses weren't great in the 80's. They were decent, but not great. Thats why Danny never won a ring without Roger. But people do forget, he does have a SB ring as a rookie punter in 1977. All it takes for Dak to be viewed different is 1 SB appearance. Danny said it well.
"The Oliver Twist" of Dallas QB's? Wouldn't that be Dak?..."Please Mr. Jones sir, I want some more!"

I'm English and I had the honour to see Danny play in a win over the Eagles in 83 which was my introduction to the game whilst on business in Ft Worth. I then saw him in London for the first London game in 86 pre season against the world champ Bears.
My first memory of a Boys QB. As others have said he was on a declining team especially defensively but he was a good QB.

Tony Romo had a passer rating of 93.0 with 1,316 yards, 8 touchdowns and 2 interceptions in 6 games in the playoffs in his career.
Weird how the gunslinger and interception prone myths develop. Like, based on what exactly? And weren’t those two interceptions on a desperation heave on the last play of the Giants game and the awful offensive line jail break Minnesota one?

Serious question: White or Romo?
Romo. He would have won if he had defenses as good as those early 1980s teams IMO. We made it to the conference championship in 1980 and lost 20-7. Of course, it's hard to compare eras because QB play has changed a lot. Romo wouldn't have been called on to do as much in the 1980s as he was in the 2000s.

The defense was declining, though, so the window was closing. Danny just wasn't a good enough QB to get us through it. He had more playoff interceptions than TDs.

 Well said. Not even Mahomes could put last years team over the top. They have no Chris Johnson. They have no running game. Not sure if fans are blind or what, but you watch the games against the better teams all year and they won the line of scrimmage battle on both sides. You’ll never win in the playoffs with a team built like that.
you are insufferable

I guess you did not see the rest of the Cowboys play against the tough teams. How can you watch a football game and only see 1 player?
I watch every game twice to make sure I don't miss anything. Did you?
