With all the holes we have from the many departures and with the sitting on our hands we’ve been doing in free agency I’m not expecting much next season. We’ve lost too many contributors for me to believe we’re going to have a real good team in 2024. It’s looking like the window has closed. The team has shown they won’t fight for McCarthy who should have been fired after the debacle to GB and it’s hard to get excited about Mike Zimmer who Jerry fired years ago. It’s understandable why the fan base is so demoralized. The arrows are all pointing down on the Cowboys.

The 2nd paragraph is exactly why I’m disappointed. A dak extension is coming, whether it’s in August or after next season, he’s gonna be here. If the team was choosing a direction and saying “hey, we are gonna rebuild”, I’d disagree but at least there would be a direction, right now they have 1 foot in reset mode and 1 in competitive mode- the middle the worst spot in sports.

If you are gonna pay dak $60m then you should be doing everything possible to put the best team on the field, at both sides of the ball. You should be going for it in the now. I’ve watched this team restructure contracts and kick the can down the road for years with teams that if everything went right AND they got luck- they’d make the playoffs so forgive me for being disappointed that they have a good core, arguably their best coach since jimmy and they are moving scared.

They extended Dak prior to free agency last time on his contract. I am starting to feel unsure if the team extends Dak at all (I was at 100% they would extend him-now more like 95%). If Dak does not get extended before the season, and the whole squad has a down year, I can see the team letting him walk.

This may not be a full rebuild, but the squad is not attempting to surround Dak with the best talent or even trying to steady the team. Which the Jones’ have typically been trying to do for Dak, even on a medium level. I think they understand how poorly the team might respond this season, and are allowing McCarthy and Dak’s contracts to expire (they hate paying for players and coaches to go away before the contract expires). They are allowing Dak/McCarthy to fail so that they can take the lion share of the blame (classic Jones move).

After franchise tagging 2x…in other words they have never pro actively gotten an extension done with him ahead of schedule.

This will be a good year to keep our expectations at arm's length. The OL needs to find replacements at LT for Smith, at C for Biadasz and Steele isn't exactly a shoe in to do well, Hopefully, we'll find a good RB in the draft that might pay dividends but it's not a given. I think getting 10 wins might well be pretty difficult to achieve. Dak could easily be distracted by his courtroom concerns, which could get affect his play. It's not a promising year, really.

Its way to early to draw any conclusions other than no SB. But winning in the regular season is what they do best. 11-13 wins would be about right then early exit in the playoffs not overly concerned with the OL right now. Bass to left guard. Slide smith out it LT. Draft a center. Pick up a RB in round 3 or 4.

I think we'll be somewhere around .500 and the Stat-Bandito will have "great" stats and not beat a single good team.

He only played one season under the franchise tag. He signed the other extension before free agency began in 2021 (though he was briefly on the tag). I don’t see this situation as something that should excite Dak, but he may still get the mega-contract. Jerry and Stephen are terrible with the contracts though they have more experience than most GM’s.

“letting him walk”? If he does not sign a deal with Dallas he’s a free agent mid-March 2025. There is no “let”. He’s gone. At that point it will be the rest of the league not outbidding Dallas for his services, assuming they even call his agent to inquire how much he’s willing to sign for.

Seriously, our oline has not gotten better, our rb position is weak, besides Lamb our WR are weak. If this court case with Dak drags on, who knows how it will effect him mentally.
On defense, we lost one of the best DC in the league, safeties are weak, LB position is weak, DL is weak. Corner is the strength of the defense as of now.
The draft can only fill so many positions. This season is not looking good
8-9.

Based on what's happened during this offseason, 6-11 or maybe 7-10. We have lost depth and I don't anticipate enough of a miracle draft to make up the difference. Somehow I don't anticipate Dak playing a full season as well. So the final season record could be lower than that. Finally the schedule looks brutal!! 6 or 7 wins just might be too generous!

The offseason is just starting. We have no idea who they will sign, draft or trade for and how the new players will do.

I expect to be entertained....there is still a lot of off season to go for me to guess how good or bad we may be. Either way, I'll be watching like I have been since 1974.
It's very entertaining. It will be so funny if they win.

And based on what you just said, how are you getting to a 12 win prediction exactly?
