Wow, I mean, this is off the charts. HE WENT TO EASTERN ILLINOIS AND WASN'T EVEN SUPPOSED TO MAKE IT TO THE NFL. He actually did see the field in 3.5 years; that's how you get better. You know, practicing, working on your craft, being dedicated to being a better version of yourself. I'll trust a hall of fame coach regarding Romo's progression and career over some guy on an Internet forum.

Groomed?? Did Romo lie in his crib at night and get fed and nourished by the coaching staff until he just magically got it? CODDLED. HAHA. I'm done wasting my time regarding your argument whether or not Romo worked hard to get where he was.

Did I demean what Dak did his rookie year? YOU'RE the one who brought up his rookie year when it wasn't even a discussion between us; and in my opinion, his rookie year was his BEST season. What does that say about him?

Why is it so hard to say that BOTH players have blown away expectations based on what they were projected to do? The difference is, Dak was a projected mid round pick on a mid Mississippi State team as a 2-time All American, and Romo was an undrafted FA that wasn't even supposed to make it. I mean, it's common sense, bro.

The majority of people don't like Dak because of the SALARY he's making and how he's come up big in playoff games. You can absolutely say the same for Romo but in my opinion, Romo didn't have as many loaded teams as Dak has. The NFC was also much stronger during Romo's days, in my opinion. Romo had maybe 2-3 years of a solid offensive line (2007, 2009, 2014)? Don't get me wrong; the front office has done a disservice to both players regarding talent acquisition and bone-headed moves, but I'm going with Romo every time regarding reading coverages, quick release, accuracy, moxie, and DEDICATION TO HIS CRAFT. You have an internal hatred towards Romo and I'm not sure why. Maybe you can enlighten me.
Who has the advantage: An undrafted guy given 3.5 years to "get it" - and still doesn't get it until year 10 - or a guy who has to start day 1 who was a 4th rounder?

It's not hard if you take your feelings out of it.

On here saying Dak won more playoff games than Romo which is false.

Regarding the contract stuff……

Romo only had a top 10 QB cap hit ONCE in his career and that was in 2010 when his cap hit was 8th amoung QBs.

Shannon missed on this one.

Romo SAT OUT the rebuild and then took over a team mid-season that had THIRTEEN PROBOWLERS in his first year of starting.

Advantage: Romo

And by the way, Cabo Romo ADMITTED he was not a leader on that team.
Romo "sat out"? Yeah. Romo demanded to not play for years until he knew the team was ready to pop. That's totally what happened.

Pro Bowlers counted on offense and defense.

Pre Romo Starts
2005 - 4 Pro Bowlers, 2 on offense
Romo Starts Half Year
2006 - 6 Pro Bowlers, 4 on offense, including Romo
Romo Starts Full Year
2007 - 11 Pro Bowlers, 6 on Offense, including Romo, with 2 All Pros

Sure was clever of Romo to refuse to start until the Cowboys had a Pro Bowl QB to carry the team and make everyone else look better.

It's sad, really. They can't accept their icon has fallen short so they resort to irrelevant comparisons and revisionist history.
you've got me confused with a strawman. All of these are insults to a poster you've not met, but rarely do any of you gurus...wagging your finger like old ladies at church - ATTACK MY ARGUMENTS.

gauntlet...LAID DOWN. And for the record, I'm a STAUNCH Dak "hater"...but I guess this a purity trial and I have to hate EVERYTHING and pretend I don't know facts and make emotional, ego-invested arguments because I'm trying to identify with an over-achieving goofball named Romo....

See? Anyone can play your ad hominem game...so please...get back to FOOTBALL.

AND ANOTHER THING FOR ALL OF YOU Romo Revisionists: The dude is SO LAZY HE HAD TO HAVE CBS INTERVENE TO GET HIM TO PUT IN THE HOURS. SOUND FAMILIAR?

I didn't ascribe any INTENT to Romo sitting for 3.5 years...just stated a fact. Again, facts hurt your feelings...that can't be helped. Facts >>> Feelings.

Cowboys history.

Romo had a top 10 QB cap hit ONCE in his entire career when he was 8th in 2010. Every other year he was outside the top 10 in terms of QB cap hits.

Dak however? 2020 #1, 2021 #10, 2022 #8, 2023 #4, 2024 #2, 2025 #10

The only fact here is that Dak fans are clueless.
I missed this post. Who is a "Dak fan"? I think you're seeing ghosts...I'm arguing facts, not tribes.

Now...You are correct that Dak lives in an era where the passing game reigns supreme and no one questions it. When Romo was playing early in his career, there were still teams trying to win the conventional way and QBs were not taking up 25% of the cap or some ridiculous number. Dak vs. Romo cap hits are more signs of the time than a sign of Jerry's affection.

And here's the main point: Romo NEVER had to play under the THREAT of the franchise tag. Dak did. TWICE. Romo was Jerry's son and signed with his family present...Dak gave Jerry the Heisman stiff-arm. Jerry made Dak play under 2 franchise tags and this year is essentially another franchise tag year...given what he will be paid and the fact that he can't walk. Romo would have been extended by now...and it's not even close!!!

Romo played better than his cap hit.

Dak plays worst than his.
This is like winning the tallest person prize at a little person's convention. I'll grant you the above to a point. Dak never EMBARRASSED US in the NFC East the way Tony Ohno did. And...at least Dak leads and is not playing scratch golf and doing goofy Brett Favre impressions.

I'll be honest.

I didn't read this because none of this is going to matter a year from now when Dak is no longer on the Cowboys.

No, that's not true. Jerry's words are always hard to decipher but it wasn't control over the offense.

Romo was asked why are you DIFFERENT NOW and BEING MORE VOCAL NOW..and he gave some stupid speech about being a sophomore and shutting up and then becoming a senior and speaking more. This told me IN REAL TIME that Romo was an overpayed CLOWN. Dak had that mentality from DAY ONE and if Romo had it...Dak would have taken YEARS to take over this team. The leadership void was there BEFORE Dak got there and it was clearly because Romo was playing scratch golf and other goofy nonsense.

No, those are actually facts confirmed from Wade Wilson and even Jason Garrett himself. And the actual actions that followed.

In fact, when Linehan came around Jerry basically called Jason Garrett a walk-around HC, they don’t want him on the offense and he has an ability to deal with ambiguity.

He'll be under a brand new account a year from now when Dak is gone, starting over, pretending to be a Cowboys fan once again.
