This time last year, Tyree Hill was the highest-paid WR at $30M in August 2023. Around the same time, Stephen Jones could have made CeeDee the highest at $31M and saved $4-5M from what he is now asking ($35M ). This is a classic example of how Stephen's delaying tactic cost the Cowboys more money.

The Hill money is fake. The actual highest paid WR was Kupp at 26.7m but yes knowing that 31m would have gotten the deal done. The other thing though is that Jefferson extension also affected the Parsons one as it set a new bar for highest non QB deal (and yes his camp noticed). When you know you have the guy, waiting doesn’t work because the contracts go in one direction.

So everybody knows that if ceedee signs early , he loses money.

So why the heck would his agent advise him to sign early? Do you people think at all?
So you don't think he would have signed an offer making the highest paid ( at the time ) at $31M a year ago? He would have rather risked avoiding injury to wait another year.

The idiot did the same with Dak. Delayed over 2M per year and paid later. Could have signed him for 28M or so instead played hardball paid franchise tag money and then 40M a year.

He is not good at managing the cap

No I don’t think he would have taken it. It doesn’t make sense to take it. Same reason basically other elite player signs early

Was the delay because of Stephen or Cee Dee’s agent?

I wonder if even his agent saw $4M increase coming?????? I mean, as a rule, positional salary increases are usually a bit slower. Think about it, $31M would have made him the highest paid at the start of last season. Now that banner has jumped not an extra $1 or 2M but $4M.

Guess the Bengals are nervous as heck of what Chase is going to cost them.......

Was the delay because of Stephen or Cee Dee’s agent?
This is a legit question actually........but Stephen has clearly said the Cowboys are not market setters. An offer making Cee Dee the highest paid at $31M last season would have been just that. Hell, even Jerry recently said something about waiting for more leaves to fall. Well........they fell and guess what (LOL).

Take the potential Lamb AAV salary and divide it by the cap. Now take the Megatron contract from a dozen years ago or so and divide it's AAV by its cap cap.

Inflation certainly raises prices but when everyone has the same spending power relative to the cap and the prices raise the same proportion, it doesn't matter.

Maybe the Cowboys thought about that too...sign him and what if he gets hurt....also, sign in and we'll have to deal with other players wanting early deals....it's that what happened with zeke? Nit sure...

If Cee Dee hired the agent then it is CD because he could tell the agent what to do, but CD came out and basically said all he wants is money. These guys don't want to be Champs, they just want to be chumps and get that bag.
So did Martin, Emmitt, Dorsett, Zeke, Galloway and Lawrence.

Is this a problem that only the Cowboys encounter?

Like how does Howie Roseman get D Smith to sign early? Why wouldn't his agent also have him wait until all the big names sign, thus raising his floor?

The excuse making for the mistakes the Jones' make are awesome.
