He's a guard, not a corner back. And an awfully good one with no injury history.
I still can't fathom why anyone in their right mind would be against bringing in a seasoned vet who has played at an elite level. He doesn't have to start, hell, he doesn't even have to make the team. Why on earth would you be negative about at least kicking the tires though? It's not like you're writing the check.

That's my thing, you hit it on the head. Bring in players see what they have, create competition. If he isn't an upgrade then cut him. Churn the roster and make players compete for their job, never feel safe that its your job and nobody is better than you. Makes for a better team, top to bottom.I still can't fathom why anyone in their right mind would be against bringing in a seasoned vet who has played at an elite level. It's the idea that his guaranteed salary might be fairly high and that the player might not have the heart or be in the shape to contribute significantly. Hurting our cap and not helping the OL sufficiently.
Let's say he comes in and he sucks? You go back to Bernie and try to make do with what we have hoping Leary comes back strong and Fredrick solidifies the middle.
If he comes in and preforms decent (most likely, I believe) or like a pro bowler (not likely) and you have a vastly improved O-line capable of opening up running lanes for Murray and keeping Romo standing making our offense lethal.
It's a no lose risk. And now with Leary knee issue....its a risk you have to take.

Agreed, that's the biggest consequence. But again, I think chances are Waters will at least be serviceable which is still an upgrade that will help a lot.
Awfully good g who hasn't played in a yr and half. Just don't get the love fest on bringing him in.
if you had bothered to do some checking, you would find that Waters had pretty much told the Patriots to take a hike; he wanted to play for Dallas or no one. He sat out last year VOLUNTARILY because he refused to play for the Pats and they refused to cut him. Feel better now?Awfully good g who hasn't played in a yr and half.
