We got Lavar Edwards in a trade (conditional 7th) ***Merged***

They will lose a young player and all they get in return is maybe a game or two from a less than 100% Spencer. He said himself in an interview this week that he hopes to get back before game 6. It seem like a Jerry over-ruling McClay type of move to me.

Too soon to make predictions. He passed his physical. He will be back before game six but when is not known. Last word was maybe game two. We'll see. He is critical.

Dallas has acquired DE Lavar Edwards from TN for an undisclosed 2015 draft pick. Edwards was a third day pick by the Titans out of LSU. Edwards played in the Senior Bowl.

If it were Ware would you being arguing this? They expect him back by WK 3. Seems like a no brainer to me to keep him inactive until then.

STRENGTHS
Tall, long defensive end who plays both sides of the line. Third in rotation but gets plenty of snaps at either side and even on the interior on passing downs. More often than not, finds first contact through hands to chest and extended arms. Not locked into edge rushing, can use extension to press the pocket while engaged. Great motor, chases the quarterback to the sideline and turns to find the ball carrier on completed passes behind him. Sheds hands quickly when asked to spy and has the lateral speed to keep up with the running back in the flat. Very disciplined as a run defender and in playing the read option.
WEAKNESSES
First punch does not jolt and the placement can get too wide. Allows blocker to absorb and redirect rather than continuing and finishing the backwards momentum. The counter to finish the penetration is lacking. Don’t see the consistent shed to release, seems content to rush while engaged. Gets the push but not the shed and finish. No full-time starting experience.

03/29/2013 - 2013 LSU Pro Day: Defensive end Lavar Edwards stood on several of his marks from the combine but was able to improve his 40-yard dash (4.78) and bench press (21 reps). Although he hasn't received the same attention as the Tigers' other pass rushers like Mingo and Sam Montgomery, Edwards is very much in the top-100 discussion. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com

I didn't get the feeling that he would be ready by game 3 based on his interview.

Spencer ended up getting micro fracture surgery after he was hurried back to the field last year.

I hope Spencer isn't rushing his recovery.

I do not think he is. He does not sound like he is rushing anything.

This case is odd, he is cautious suggesting by week six, the team, based on statements by Jones, is saying "anytime after week one".

Sounds like another Ratliff case developing, if you ask me.

Jerry saying one thing and a player saying another. Eventually the two opinions collide.

Interesting.

Never thought of it that way.

I cannot wait until the day Spencer hits the bricks! And, that is hard for me to say, embarrassing also, because now I sound like the negative nancies around here.

Spags and Broaddus have heard that he was expected back WK 2 or 3, with 3 being more realistic.

With Ware gone Spencer is a right end now. He can rush both.

Yes. Spencer will likely get more snaps at SDE than WDE...once he starts playing fulltime.

I think he's more a a WDE option on this team. But it will be interesting to see what Marinelli does with him.

he was going to get cut but i dont see why we cant use him.to me Lawrence's season is mostly over and he wont make much impact this year if any.
