again we picked up a player Monday why is bring a guy in weds that big of an issue? I see Sam the same as I do all other players who have recently been cut and are now out looking for a team. I think the I hate Jerry stuff is fine but I don't buy into this is a Jerry move because some don't like it. As for distraction? I think having the worst defense in the history of the team last year was a distraction trying to get players in here who have shown some ability is a way to put that distraction to rest. As for the gay thing? Hell Dallas had Lance Rentzel who many suspected of being gay but as long as he was making catches who cared.

My issue would be if Jerruh did force Garrett's/Marinelli's hands on this, not whether or not Sam is gay. I would still wonder why now, instead of when he became available? If a player became injured and a space opened up, that would be one thing. But that didn't happen (or did it? lol...I read the thread, nobody has said it did). Again, just a hunch, a gut feeling...but the waiting 3 days to bring him in coupled with the head decision maker constantly lamenting not signing Manziel because of how "relevant" he would help make the "glitz and glamour" Cowboys, it does start to lean towards the possibility that this is Jerruh's decision moreso than Marinelli's. Sam will definitely bring more press and media attention to the Cowboys, that's for sure. Better hope ESPN no longer feels the need to report on who is and who is not showering with Sam in the locker room.

That's why I started it out my post with "Tin Foil Hat Time"

LOL, take that with a grain of salt fellas.

Yeah, seriously. What exactly is keeping him off the 53 with this crop. If we had drafted him, he'd be on the 53.

I don't know about that Count. He's still not great against the run and he still can not produce on ST. I am not at all sure that he could make a team if he can't do those things. It would be different if he were an exceptional Pass rusher but he's not. He has some talent but not enough to be a consistent threat off the edge. He's not nearly strong enough to hold up once an OT gets his hands on him and he's not really fast enough or quick enough to get the corner on above average LTs at this point in his career.

I think he's right where he needs to be if he wants to have any chance at a career in the NFL.

So, basically if we signed Sam we get Josh Brent?

LOL

We "negotiated" this deal for Brent like it was some sort of shady dealing in parking garage?

Tin foil hat time? LOL, seriously we need a sarcasm font.
The Cowboys spent Tuesday calling their own players to gauge reaction to making Sam a Cowboy. With the Rams out of the picture, Dallas looms as a solid fit for last year's SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Year because of the team's 4-3 scheme and a desperate need for help on defense.

I take it the reaction was positive from Cowboy players
Those are the only opinions that matter. No mine or yours. Good luck to Michael Sam.

the signing gives us 3 former SEC defensive players of the year currently under contract.

sam had 6 pre-season sacks... in the NFL. do those count?

No, but it gets him a ticket to an opportunity to, perhaps, someday make sacks that count in the NFL.

Oh man. This is going to be great. Popcorn time indeed.

1. Doesnt shock me....
2. As long as it about football I dont care whose on the team.

he's been a consistent pass rush threat in every game he's played.
we all assume he can't be that against NFL first teamers but we could also be wrong.
pass rushers aren't all super fast or super strong or any one thing.
dallas will see how he does here but it would be far form shocking for him to get regular season action at some point.

i support dallas bringing brent back and support playing sam if he earns the spot just the same.
put the best players on the field if they've met legal and league mandated requirements to be there.

Evidently Dallas talked with players about their feeling of this before announcing they would bring in Sam for a physical to sign him. But still he cleared Waivers sunday and will likely be singed Wed to PS again I see no big deal in this and do not see this in any way shape or form as some jerry move. Supposedly a Jerry move is about making money, so how does Sam put money in Jerry pocket? You think Sam jersey sells are going to be selling like hot cakes? Only so called Jerry move I saw even come close was getting JF but evidently Jerry listened to others in the organization and passed on a guy who clearly would have made money for jerry

Watch yourself.

Multiple Michael Sam threads have been closed in the past due to it turning political, religion or Personal attacks.

Two members have already been benched for name calling in this thread. If you can not control yourself in Michael Sam threads you should stay out of them.

I think this is a fair assessment.

But I also think that describes many guys currently in the league or on P squads elsewhere.
