I could care less what Jerry says TBH, but when he calls out a player that hasn't lived up to expectations I believe he has every right to do so.

Especially when the HC doesn't do it.

Not looking to argue with you about this because there never is a winner in these Jerry arguments and I typically agree with most of what you have to say.

However, the fact that Garrett hadn't done it in the media is exactly what I'm talking about. It was stupid to bring it up to the media in the first place, and Garrett, with a good head on his shoulders knows that. He wouldn't have said that to the media because it never should have happened.

If Jerry left that up to the head coach, then we wouldn't be having this conversation right now because Garrett wouldn't have been dumb enough to do it to begin with.

Now if you're saying Jerry gives out more info for us fans to dig into, then I agree.

I will tell you exactly what I think happened: Jerry did the trade because what the Rams were charging to move up from the middle of the first round to pick #6 was way less than typical. Normally it would take a lot more than a second to move up that much... Jerry saw a deal there, and made the trade because there was a highly rated CB there. The Rams even used the old "we got so much from Washington in the RGIII trade that we don't need that much here."

The problem was, the team hadn't done their due diligence on Claiborne. They hadn't really looked at him and the (recently) highly efficient manner in which Garrett and the scouts did their evaluations, didn't even come into play. Basically, they went in blind into Claiborne, not much better than us fans who only have Kiper's rankings and mock drafts to look at. They didn't evaluate him mentally, and made a poor and hasty decision because they got a trade up that high at below market value and Jerry couldn't pass it up.

That is honestly what I think happened.

The part about them looking into the player pre-draft is well documented. IIRC, the secondary coach had talked with him briefly and also one scout.

For me it's not even about the INTs. Hell we saw Sunday that he played horribly despite the 1 INT.

The thing that stood out to me is he rarely deflected passes and was rarely in position to even effectively challenge a pass. His technique is terrible and so is his awareness. Because of those things the opponents that he's been responsible for covering usually have good days.

He has no business starting for any team in the NFL.

playing poor and getting demoted is a natural occurrence in any sport. once that happens, there are two ways to handle it. one, is to act like a tool, throw a tantrum, and run away (what Claiborne did). two, you can use it as motivation. You, can study film like mad, hit the weight room and get into great shape, get out on the field and practice your technique over and over and over, until you improve enough to steal your starting position back.

I was thinking that maybe Jerry, after seeing the ongoing attempts to Sheild and coddle Mo having no positive results, tried option two. Calling his sorry *** out in public after a game in which his play was on par with Dwayne Goodrich.
