I'm going to make a educated guess that given the fact that he was not moving around very well, and I don't know...had to have a shot to deal with the pain that, yeah, he was probably in pain.

He's tough as hell. I've never denied that. But sometimes you have to save players from themselves as well cause sometimes their toughness, and their pride, over-rides what is possibly best for the team.

Like I've said I have no trouble with Romo going back in. He's the leader. He wanted in. They let him in. I'm fine with that.

I also can see why other people are not, and would have preferred to stay with Weeden given those circumstances. I also, just to point it out, know that Weeden lead 2 drives for 10 points, including the only screen play that I recall to combat that blitz, in his very limited time while Romo was getting hammered by the blitz and only put up 7 points.

This isn't about Romo vs. Weeden because Romo is far and away the better QB and the best option for Dallas in 99.999% of situations.

It's just quite possibly that in this situation there is a chance that it might have been better to go with Weeden given the situation Romo was in.

But he was in pain before the Giants game and had to have a shot to play - does that mean he shouldn't have played?

I have seen nothing that tells me he wasn't in physical condition to return to the game. He seemed to be moving around just fine on the last play of the game.

Weeden did a nice job, but let's be real - on the field goal Murray took us down the field with that 51 yard run, and took that screen pass 20 something yards on the next drive. Weeden then hit Witten on a wide open pass with seemingly no defender within 20 feet of him.

I'm not trying to knock what he did. He was excellent - but let's not make it seem like he was out there evading defenders and tossing darts all over the field. I don't think he did anything that Romo couldn't have done.

again you have medical people there they are checking him out if they felt he was at a big risk I'm sure they would say. I don't make calls like that unless I have the full information and we don't get that in our living rooms. Are we to sit Romo any time he gets dinged up from here on out? If all this is was a bruise even a painful one then do we now sit him?

I'm sure that they couldn't have known. You can only know this if you have an MRI. My understanding is that they did not have access to that. No way they could have known for certain.

On the contrary, I am not in the least opposed to the Cowboys finding Romo's successor nor would I take issue with the Cowboys using a first round pick. I absolutely agree the Cowboys should address this sooner than later...based on what we saw in preseason, they may have already found him with Dustin Vaughan. Of course, we will have to see how he has progressed next year.

What I would argue is that I don't think going to the Super Bowl is beyond Romo's ability. But alot of other issues will have to get corrected before the Cowboys can get there and I don't believe the onus is squarely on Romo to do so. It is and always has been a team - which includes the coaches - effort. On this, though, we will have to agree to not agree, as I'm certain neither one of us will change the others mind.

Romo is far from being the Cowboys only impediment to getting to the Super Bowl. The coaches failing to keep Romo's ego in check is another big flaw. Coach Jones inserting his two cents in football matters is another problem that sinks the Cowboys ship. I could go on and on about this teams flaws. In the end, the most glaring flaw I see with this organization is it's apparent priorities... Romo's ego over the success of the team.

Watch the game again. Watch the velocity he has on the ball when he comes back in. His 1st pass should have been a pick but the DB dropped it.

Again he showed them he could go Garrett made the call right or wrong that is each person own view but at least theirs is based on a heck of a lot more than you or I know. These people are not stupid as much as many here like to think. They do have an understanding and a knowledge that we do not have as fans. Yes it is great to second guess but it is done on very limited information. If MRI comes back and confirms what they already feel is the situation then what will people say? They got lucky?

How did he show them he could go?

Jerry got good news on Romo. He wanted to tell Garrett directly. Jerry was likely massively relieved to learn that Tony was alright. He wanted to share that with Garrett who he knew would also be massively relieved. I can't believe people are making an issue out of this. Clearly he wasn't telling Garrett who to play, because you'd never play Weeden if Romo was OK to go.

That's fine. I have no issue with anyone having no issue with it. I personally don't think the owner had any business putting himself in there and having any interaction on that sort of thing. That could just be me, and I'm fine with that as well.

he was able to move and escape from the pocket and I'm sure as he was warming back up they monitored him. He was hit again once he returned had no problem after that and had it been his back he there would be no way of hiding it yet he got right back up. In the end you think he should not have played fine, that is your opinion

I didn't say Romo couldn't have.

I just see where they're coming from.

And I don't care how they got down there. That only makes me understand more why they thought Weeden was the better option because they feel that possibly they would call a slightly different game with Weeden.

The only thing I know for sure is that Murray got that 28 yard screen play because with Weeden in there they actually called a damn screen play to hit back at the blitz.

If they'd done that a few more times during the game maybe we're not talking about Romo getting hammered and needing to go out.

I haven't heard but he probably took a shot before this game, just like the Giants, to start the game. That's a totally different world to having to take the shot, in game, because you're hurting from a shot you just took. I won't even bother to compare those situations any further at all. They're simply not remotely the same.

Didn't I say Jerry was interfering in a thread earlier today? What happen to it? From the horses mouth, I knew he hadn't consulted with Garrett before he announced Romo could return. We were heading in the right direction too. If he keeps under cutting the head coaches authority Garrett may walk on his own volition.

I don't think it is clear that was what Jerry was telling the coach. Jerry should have stayed upstairs and let the professionals do their jobs. Inserting his 2 cents during games has always been a problem. How do you think he got the moniker "Coach Jones".

You don't think it is clear what he was telling him? Then how on earth can you be upset about it?

BTW - the phrase "2 cents" refers to giving an opinion on the topic. If you don't know what was said, how do you know he wasn't simply relaying good news? That wouldn't be "giving his 2 cents"

lol.

There are few people in the world who fight reality more than Dallas Cowboys fans.

This is Jerry Freaking Jones. He is Mr. Never-Shuts-Up. He is Mr. Puts-His-Nose-Into-Whatever-Grabs-His-Attention. He says whatever is on his mind, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, no matter how coherent or incoherent his comments may be. Jerry Jones does not imply (good place for a curse word here but it is a family forum) anything. He says whatever he wants done.

Jones obtained first-hand information about his quarterback's condition. According to him, he relayed the information to his coach. He pays people to communicate the injury status of his players to his coaches. In this particular case, he did not allow his people to earn their pay. Why? Because he is Jerry Freaking Jones, that's why. And because he is Jerry Freaking Jones, the validity of this thread boils down to whether he issued a command to Jason Garrett.

Did Jones order Garrett to put Romo back in? Does anyone know? The relevant word is know and not assume.

Well, how was this proof? They sent him in before he did any of this. All I saw was a bunch of soft toss and he had zero zip on his ball.

Yes, in the end I don't think he should have played and I don't think there was any way that they could have know if he really was 100% OK. That's correct.

Again all you saw, what from the living room? I saw him hit Williams from a big 1st down, but time ran out and we go into over time, frankly he did not have that many plays when he did return.
