Witten's decline is way low on the list of worries right now. I do agree they could try to get Escobar a little more involved though.

Dare to criticize a fan favorite and legend, whether it's true or not, and get pummeled by fans.

Through some fans' eyes, guys never drop off, never get old and can play forever.

Witten has never been a athletic freak nor a burner and has been playing in the league for a long time, so it's reasonable to think that his skill is dropping off. He doesn't get open nearly as much as he used to, and IMO, when he does get open, more often than not, it's because of his veteran guile and not his athletic ability.

It stands to reason that younger, faster LBs and S are having an easier time covering him.

Doesn't mean he's done, but IMO, he is another receiver who is having a hard time creating separation.

Why do I have this image of someone struggling, falling over furniture, punching himself in the face, huffing and puffing to reach a computer to post an opinion they really dislike? It's like a Jim Carrey routine.

Jason Witten is not going anywhere. However, Witten did not distinguish himself against the Eagles. Virtually everything his teammates did was just as ineffective. The coaches could not instill focus in the offense or defense long enough to counter pretty much anything Philadelphia did. Yeah, DWayne Harris flashed a little passion but that was pretty much it on turkey day. The whole team would not have shown up if not for Dan Bailey, who overall is still the most consistent player on the team week-in week-out. That would be hilarious if it were not so sad.

Is this team capable of playing consistent football for four quarters? It needs to demonstrate whether it can starting this Thursday.

I have been saying the same , JW has been great but his YAC has disappeared for 2-3 years , it's a shame a TE can't even break a tackle long enough to get a single yard for a 1st down . His blocking is still good but sometime they overestimate , like him blocking JPP alone , also I remember in that botched playoff game Ray Allen made a mincemeat of him on way to Romo .

if they really believe Escobar ( if not wonder why a 2nd round pick was invested) they need to let him have more snaps so that we can see if he has it and his speed and reach will be a definite help , in the thanksgiving game the speed differential between the teams was so apparent.

At the same time I'm for giving more snaps for Street than Williams , as street was supposed to be a better route runner

I don't wear shades! You post this after a loss to think you have some kind of point and you don't. Witten is critical to our offense because of his ability to block and catch. Find me a TE that does both as good as Witten.

I think you are being really hyperbolic, but I will say the team's inability to utilize Escobar has been maddening. He is clearly more athletic and could be a real threat in the passing game. Why waste a second round pick on a guy who barely sees the field?
