I haven't read much about this, and certainly not all of this thread.

But did I read somewhere that she has made this type of complaint 12 times, about 5 other guys?

You probably haven't noticed, but people in general are pretty stupid herd animals. The herd has been metaphorically spooked, now it just needs a direction to stampede.

Feel good about themselves? What does that even mean when the reaction is generating outrage? No one feels "good" about decrying domestic abuse.

The reaction to the Ray Rice video is the difference between hearing about a crime and SEEING a crime. When we merely hear about a crime (or any issue) all of our senses aren't fully engaged. We're not there so we tend to minimize the impact of the action because we don't observe it. (It's the same thing in seeing war on the big screen and actually being in a war.)

However, when people SAW the video, there was no doubt of its horror because people were actually witnessing it.

It has absolutely nothing to do with them feeling good about themselves.

when this is all said and done, it really is looking more and more like the accused is the victim, but that's not near the giggle-juice for some.

i'm going to put all pre-conceived notions of hardy to the side and just watch him play and see for myself what he does and how he conducts himself. i'd appreciate the same for me, so i see no reason why people who only know the man through headlines can't shut up long enough to read past the 8" txt.
 
The signing of Hardy is uncomfortable, but this has gotten way out of control. Twitter has made sudden experts out of everybody. The outrage far outweighs the situation in all matters anymore.

I don't recall the outcry when Jason Kidd was here. He beat the crap out of hjs girlfriend.

I hardly hear anyone questioning the legal system, which didn't do anything to Hardy or Ray Rice.

Would I have signed him? No. But the overreaction doesn't fit my hesitations at all.

And to hear a blowhard like Dale Hansen question the parenting of Jim Garrett. Mr. Garrett put multiple kids in Ivy League schools, and what is possibly not to admire about the person Jason Garrett is? Meanwhile, Hansen has zero relationship with his own son, and was largely an absent father as they grew up. And he wants to talk about hypocrisy?

And does Hansen really think Charlotte Anderson makes all the football decisions and runs the conduct committee herself?

The face of the 'Stillers' franchise is a serial rapist, .. where is the outrage?

They brought Harrison in mid-season last year, .. he is a multiple times woman abuser. Where is the outrage?

This outrage is only because it is Dallas. If this was Buffalo or Jacksonville it would just be a blip on ESPN announcing the signing.

I would say those people are naive.

I would have absolutely no issue with any man that would have come up and knocked the girl in this video out (and she's a minor too I believe).

It appears the only non-circumstantial evidence in the bench trial or future trial (which may or may not occur) are the photographs taken of the alleged victim's injuries. If the stonewalling of the NFL's lawsuit to gain access to the case evidence is any indication, the North Carolina public records act (click on this http://www.ncga.state.nc.us/gascripts/statutes/statutelookup.pl?statute=132 and scroll to subsection 1.4 to review the law itself) will prevent the league and/or the public from judging the only critical evidence in the case.

I guess TMZ can't payoff everyone to gain access to a story.
 
I also really think people need to look at the big picture too on why the team is taking flack. The mantra under JG has been "doing things the right way." Process of bringing in the "right people." One reason people stuck for him regarding him getting fired was because they saw a process. Then you see..kept a guy who killed his friend drinking and driving, kept a shoplifter, let go of a classy guy that was league OMVP and brought in a guy who was convicted by a judge of beating his girlfriend. So overall the talk isn't about abuse, its about..."is this the Cowboy way now under JG?" "Is JG really doing anything and this is a Jones thing to finally win at all costs?" I think that is the conversation t many talking heads.

It's not naïve at all. Your example isn't even relevant. That teenager deserves something but a man beating her isn't on of them. She can be restrained or whatever. I also think that there may be a situation where someone can step in to save a life. We aren't talking about that though. We are talking about a football player being pestered by a coked up girlfriend where he has a choice to walk away. There is always a choice in these matters unless someone has a gun to your face.

I'm no trying to at all. I'm just saying that people are up in arm about the specific abuse here when most of the stuff I'm seeing.. from the Mayor of Dallas, to Dale Hansen to people on Twitter is in regards to how we are run. Not just the incident. It's the Cowboys so its more about the team.

I think it is relevant. I think there are absolutely situations where it's okay for a woman to be hit, whether that's by a man or a woman, and that was one of them. Especially after she attacked the little boy. There is a difference between a hit and a beating though. I'm not suggesting it's okay for someone to just go up and pound on her. A Ray Rice hit though? Absolutely no problem with it in that instance. Nobody would think twice about it if that person was a male, and that's a ridiculous standard. What did walking away do for that girl? It got her attacked again, and her little brother too. Walking away is a nice and lovely thought, but when someone runs after you and continues something, it's not a realistic option.
