This is to have room for Mcclain, Rookies, Hardys cap hits and it still may not be enough depending on Hardys suspension length. For those speculating about AP, they simply won't have enough room without reworking Carr and extending Dez. If AP was brought in, they would almost have to rework/cut Carr AND re-sign Dez and even that would likely leave them with little wiggle room. Frankly put, AP is extremely unlikely imo.

If this team gets AP I don't care what most say but it's a forgone conclusion he gets 2000+ yards behind this line. A year off of full health and a chip on his shoulder is dangerous. I don't think people understand the legitimate fear NFL defenses would have for the offense. It's a nightmare scenario because this offense would be unstoppable.

I can't stop thinking about the facts that he's a 30-year-old RB with a ton of mileage on his wheels, coming off a year long layoff.

To top it off he gets "snarky" (to use WG's language) when his "inside info" gets questioned. Can't remember a reporter doing so much damage to his rep in so little time. Going into this off-season I think most had at least a modicum of respect for his work.

Well, snarky is putting it mildly. He seems to flat out have a grudge against McClain and has always "reported" negative news regarding him. Last year saying McClain wasn't going to help because he never practiced and then this off season saying he would not be signed (basically).

It is bad enough to let your personal feeling get in the way of telling things accurately, but when the people out here can tell he hates the guy, it is just plain bad.

If he really does have sources inside VR, then he needs to kick them in the nuts because they're making him look like a fool of the worst sort... one that charges people to hear his foolish talk.

Makes zero sense to me, from any Cowboys perspective.

Really? Why? At the right cost, it makes great sense. Of course, there's no way I see the team giving up a premium pick and then paying AP $13M. But a conditional 7th to get exclusive negotiating rights to rework his deal, following by signing him to a one or two year deal in the $4M-$6M range they were prepared to spend on Murray? Sign me up today. I'll start making plans to visit the Bay area in early Feb, 2016.

They only needed 1.5 million for Mcclain not 13.

I believe they'll have to set aside somewhere around $8 million for Hardy, depending on the suspension, but I'll have to go back and look at the numbers.

So now he is tweeting out stuff that anyone should know?

Not many who understands the cap thought that this meant AP...

And lol at the top tweet: "McClain (previously unforeseen)" Haha, yeah unforseen. He said he would not get more than league minimum, so I suppose it truly was unforseen for him.

Hopefully we come to a long term deal with Dez soon and save some money so that we can resign somebody midseason (Crawford, Hardy or McClain) instead of going into next year with a bunch of free agents like we did this year.

There has to be more to the timing of this restructure. Hardy is not due his money yet and maybe it was the McClain contract, but I think they still had room for that and the rookie pool as well. They will get even more room when Dez signs his deal . There is no benefit this year to cutting Carr, it would only save you money next year, so he really needs a restructure and pay cut for it to make sense for this year.

So really why do you want to free up 8+ million now as opposed to months from now? just because it's inevitable or you are planning ahead for next year? i doubt it.

What the heck does "follow along" at the end mean? Is he plugging his show or just being his normal snooty self? Either way, little phrases like that annoy me.

That was his first tweet in that series.

Oh, absolutely, but I can't see Minnesota letting him go for a 7th and Peterson is on the record saying he wants his money. I don't think there's any way Peterson will sign a one-year deal and I don't think he'll play for $6M a year and modest guarantees.

Would depend on what kind of restructure was done with AP, but this is one reason I don't see us doing anything concerning AP until at least the draft (if we do anything at all). Then, we'll likely know if we have more of a need of acquiring AP or keeping Carr.

The Cowboys were up against the cap with McClain signing. Needed to free some operating cap and still have the draft. Nothing else to it.

If they want AP the need to sign Dez long term with a low cap hit this year.
