Radio Rumor Gregory to Dallas

I can see this happening. On a personal note, he reminds me a lot of Charles Haley. If the Cowboys feel the same, I can see them taking him at #27. And I would limit him to being a pass-rush specialist as a rookie, while he learns the game and improves his technique, strength and size. Maximize his strengths while it minimizes his weaknesses.

I can see that comparison. Except that Haley ran a 4.8, Gregory runs low 4.6.

No, maybe in the third. Don't need any chronic pot heads on this team. We need to concentrate our first 3 picks on DEPENDABLE players.

I am absolutely certain, beyond a sliver of a shadow of doubt, you have a significant number of players on this team who smoke copious amounts of weed. I would also wager they're some of the better players on the team.

If Dallas wants an OLB but Cowboys do not blitz with the LB enough to play to Gregory strength and as long as the CB are an issue I doubt Rod will be looking to blitz a lot.
As for being a DE he does not look to have the size, a guy like Tyron Smith would hand his butt to him.

I don't know how much faith I put in them, but rumors have been the Cowboys really want someone who can play the OTTO, like Irvin in Seattle and Von Miller in Denver. If they think Gregory fits that mold and allows them to play that style, it makes a lot of sense.

Once again, that is all rumors. Rumor is they've also wanted to play 12 personnel for about five years...

To me he looks small and while you could use him as you say, does Dallas want a part time player with their top pick? He is not a every down DE in my option

Off topic: do the Cowboys have a draft show online?

I don't care that he smokes pot. I do care that the NFL cares that he smokes pot.

Exactly right and that's why I wouldn't even consider drafting him. He may have great success early but sooner or later his addiction and/or stupidity will catch up to him.

There really isn't a position on the team right now where you're getting an every down players though. Bruce Irvin has a significant impact on games and I don't think he plays more than 60% of their defensive snaps.

The point is, however, they want to play that style of defense and you need a specific type of player to do it. Gregory is one of the very few in this draft who fits that profile. I think they would love to play an OTTO when though go to their one high safety looks. Put the corners in cover-3 and go one high, send OTTO behind Lawrence or Hardy. I mean, that's just nasty.

I would rather have a pass rushing DE that is a little light but has long arms, than a guy who has more weight but has shorter arms.

Another 20 pounds wouldn't help Gregory much against Tyron Smith... but an inch and a half on his arm length would do more to help him IMO.

With arms that are 34" long, Gregory will have arms nearly as long as many of the OT's that would be blocking him. Not Tyron Smith though who has almost 37" arms.:omg:

IMO, if Dallas did draft Gregory they would play him at DE. Probably would have him in on the nickle as a rookie. Next year, he'd probably have more ballast for the run game.
