A trade is supposed to work the same as a release with the cap, BUT overthecap is saying that if released, Murray would take up an additional $2M in cap room BUT if he was traded, it would free up $4M in cap room.

My guess it has something to due with the remaining $9M in guaranteed money Murray has coming.

This is a situation where the Eagles should just give teams permission to negotiate with him as if he were a FA. Let him get a sense of market value, and then see if he wants to negotiate down his own deal to the point where the cap hit in PHI is manageable in order to get out of there. It sounds like he's really unhappy.

He should have taken the money in Dallas. It was the best spot for him in the entire league. And we were already offering more than he was worth to the market.

I thought about that, too, but then asked myself "if I were Murray, would I restructure" (meaning take a lesser contract)? The answer I came up with was "why should I?". The only reason that I can see that he would restructure is that he hates it so much in Philly that he would take significantly less to get away from there. That would require a lot of hate. He might be willing to take a lot less, but I have a hard time seeing it. Philly is in a really bad spot with him right now. I don't know the actual numbers, but I'm pretty sure they would take a significant cap hit if they were to just cut him, and I can't see any team willing to take on his current contract (again, assuming he won't restructure...he might, for all I know).

Please someone catch me up. Haven't paid any attention to NFL since Cowboys last game. I do know that Kelly went somewhere else! Who is the new coach and what kind of offense will they run? Would it be better or worse for Murray? Finally why is Murray unhappy overall? I think if it was me and a new coach coming in, I might want to play for 1 more year, with that kind of money on the line!

I was under the impression that he could choose to renegotiate and play for less with another team. That still wouldn't let Philly off the hook for his cap hit against them, as I understand it. I could be wrong about all of this, although me being wrong is a very rare event.

How exactly were we offering him more than he was worth on the market when he signed a much larger deal to play in Philly and he reportedly turned down two even bigger deals in Oakland and Jacksonville?
