People were complaining about having holes at LB. They fill it with arguably the best player at the position, and in one year we could potentially have Luke Kuechly 2.0 and Sean Lee at LB. Think about that again.

Our doctor better know he'll recover. Heariing the war room show with Broaddus, they said there are doctors who have stated he has a 20% playing in the NFL. If at all.

The Cowboys will get killed for that pick. A RB in the first, an injured LB in the 2nd. Where's the defensive help?

They are drafting talent. It's how you build teams.

Maybe, but when you're 4-12, a player who won't help this year is hard to take. IF we are right about his knee, it's a great pick. IF.

The biggest take away from our first two pics is that Jerry clearly wants to prove he's still in control. Zeke and Smith are both shock picks that were more about making headlines than actually sticking to any sort of philosophy

1st pick is playing right into our philosophy. We are a running team, so i dont know what you mean.

That was was a wasted pick, guess we alternate between backup TE's ad injured LBs to throw away our 2nd round picks on

But it's an extra first round pick for us next season. Goes both ways.

Trying to figure out the mindset of some of the members here...

Some would have been totally fine with drafting Carson Wentz or Jared Goff who probably wouldn't have played for another 3 years and would have been MUCH bigger reaches than Smith...

But we take arguably the most talented player in the draft at 34 and people are up in arms?

No one absolutely no on can know if a nerve will regenerate.

But they almost always do. My son cut the nerve bundle in his hand where it reaches out to the fingers. No use of any fingers or thumb. You cannot put nerves back together because they are springy and pull back. So they lined nerves up in little conduit tubes so they can grow back together over a few months. They can't even be sure which nerves are which, so for a while he thinks he's moving one finger, but it's another....however, the brain relearns and 6 months later he's 100%. Jaylen's knee is nowhere near that serious. His repair went fine, but there was nerve "damage" and it was just horrible timing after season.

Our team doctor better hope he knows what hes doing then or hes out of a job lol

Makes me wonder if we know something that no one else knows. If we had some sort of reason to believe there is say a 95% chance of recovery... this would make perfect sense.
I have no doubt that we THINK we know something that no one else knows. We often draft like that.

I just find it more than a coincidence that our doctor did the surgery. I can't argue with those talking about the potential bust of this pick but man, if he will be okay with the knee then they got a top 5 pick at 34.

Who would know best? The surgeon. Who does that surgeon work for? The Cowboys.

I stand behind the move.

I agree that he is a huge talent, and hopefully rids us of McClain next year, but I have to make 2 assumptions

1. He would not have been there in the 3rd. 2nd rounders are a 4 year contract and only useful for maybe 3 at 2nd rd money
2. The Doctor emphatically said he will be good as new and not "there is a good chance he may recover." I will be curious to get the Drs perspective in an interview. I am not sure I trust interpretation.

These threads are such a riot.

Every fan turns into a pro scout and NFL GM this time of year.

It doesn't take an NFL scout or GM to know he isn't playing for at LEAST a year. Maybe never.
