Sir, I don't know where you grew up and nor do I care. I was told by my father to always remove my cap and cross my heart, and take a moment to thank our veterans for giving their lives so that my generation was protected. This was while listening to the National Anthem being played.

I don't care what "it's" about. I don't have to like "it". And others don't have to feel the way I do about not liking it. That's the beauty of this country. I believe the players should be grateful to play a children's game and make millions doing it. I believe that taking a knee does nothing to further the causes for which this action represents.

I believe that pro-sports should be a lifting experience to divert us from whatever our day to day live stressors might be. It should be a community building experience, and it should be fun.

As for the flag by laws. When I am appointed head-flag handler, I'll be sure to look those over.

Sports have never been the safe space you describe. Sports and politic have been intertwined for millennia. You should note that this type of safe space was stated when Robinson broke the color barrier and Ali protested the Vietnam War.

Then turn around and pretend they fought and died to preserve your right to disrespect them.

NFL games are one of the only opportunities soldiers get to unwind during the week while on deployment, it saddens me that thousands of men and women stationed overseas had to tune in and witness that bull**** yesterday.

There are better ways to do this. The military is a gold standard in regards to people of all races, colors, creeds working together for the same goal. It's something we should point to and celebrate, not mock.

The collective wars in the Middle East and American foreign policy in general is a greater threat to the "privileged Americans" than the mythical boogeyman we're always hearing about who is waiting to take our freedom from us.

What do you not understand about "not playing your game". None of those things have anything to with playing a game on Sunday. Taking a knee during the playing of a song doesn't move the goal post any closer to solving any of those things. Rather than resorting to empty gestures that solve nothing, these players that claim to actually care about such things should write a check to support their cause and volunteer their off duty time to help in meaningful ways to make a real difference. Schedule a meeting with police, write their legislators. Taking a knee is the wrong way to make the right gesture.

Do you have that right at your place of work? Maybe you are an employer, do you allow your employees to protest at your front door? Not questioning whether they have the right to protest, just do it n your own time.
