Almost certainly.

UC Irvine and Costa Mesa are both, what, 2.5 hours from Oxnard? To a casual fan, the Cowboys might be the least interesting team of the 3. I've gone to Bills camp because it's local, but if almost anyone else was in town, I'd go there lol.

See didn’t even know they were practicing there. I’m pretty sure most casual fans here in SoCal are unaware. I’m pretty diehard football and had no idea that’s where camps for the Chargers/Rams were being held.

’m pretty sure our heat wave is playing the biggest part in all of it. The beaches, Lakes are over crowded right now and the 40 heading to Lake Havasu and the 15 heading to Vegas have been extremely packed for travel. It’s been pretty miserable here this year.
Yep. I think it's a combination of many things, with the hottest summer in recent LA history, being a big reason.

Rams and Chargers offer an alternative for football fans who aren't actual Cowboy fans.

I doubt it has very little to do with the political reasons some have suggested, California is a very liberal state so if anything, they would be supportive of the players.

Kids drive attendance.

They'd all rather play Fortnite.

There are plenty of factors as to why attendance is down but I do believe video games is also somewhat of a factor. This summer Madden came out early, and in California, there were plenty of mom and pops shops that had the game as early as the first week of August. I believe this is the first Madden when the game was available to play before preseason football began.

It’s been a miserable summer... I can’t recall the last time it was this hot for this long. I mean it’s been like triple digits for what feels like 6 weeks now. Even though CA is a liberal state, there are heavy conservatives towns like the one I live in. But what I find funny is that a lot of the people here have what I like to call fake outrage. The same people who complained over social media still were at the bars watching the games and having Super Bowl parties etc...

Combination of factors:

1) National Anthem fiasco
2)Growing resentment over wealthy divas.
3)Witten, Romo, Dez are gone.
4)More choices for the masses

They have to decide if they want to pick up another 2 year lease for Oxnard..... these numbers won't help

I have to think it might be the new LA teams siphoning locals
Hadnt thought of that.
Certainly the Rams are contenders entering the season for the first time in many years
And the Chargers have a bit of buzz going for them too.

I think it's bigger than that.

Sports is being parented out of kids. Football is fading. Baseball is pretty much already dead. I know very few kids that watch baseball.

LA is a huge Dodger town no matter what the weather is like. They’re showing up in droves for the Dodgers. It’s always been that way.

LA is dominated by USC football, Lakers Basket Ball and Dodgers Baseball. I can pretty much say with certainty that Baseball attendance is not down in this town.

I’m telling you the biggest factor is the heat wave we’re in. You can laugh or dismiss it, but it’s one of the hottest if not hottest summers in LA, and people rather go to the pool, lake and the beaches. Why go watch a team practice when it’s miserable out? They’re not playing a live game.

I don't care what the reasons were for the recent decline of daily attendees in California. It's always hot in Texas, yet crowds attending Cowboys Texas training camps have never diminished.

Bring training camp back to San Antonio, Jerry!

good maybe its time to utilize our billion dollar stadium and ridiculously expensive Star.. let our dang fans see our own team during the TC and O
ff season..Id like way more practices held at the actual stadium..maybe more time there could actually create some home field comfort..i think its time to stop leaving for marketing and babying the players with beaches and cool weather.. play in what you practice in.. bring the boys home!!
The idea used to be to get away from the creature comforts of home and go for more of a Spartan camp for 2 weeks..... to keep the focus on football and getting in shape

Went to camp in Austin once, that was enough. Watching players practice isn't high on my entertainment list. Hell, watching the play has been falling, I do not get making any effort to see them practice.

And they used that for getting the players in shape and it was more like a boot camp.

if they ran camps now like they did in the 1970's of the ninety players there wouldn't be thirty left to play on the team after camp
Yep, I can remember the players talking about camp with dread and the OL all reporting overweight with fines looming over them. And back then, a fine could hurt.

Most had to have off season jobs and didn't stay in shape because they were dependent on camp to do that and there were a hell of a lot fewer soft tissue injuries with out of shape players than these year round gym rats today.

When I think of camp, I think of Bear Bryant's infamous A&M camps and my daughter-in-law's uncle survived that and according to him, the movie they made about that was camp cupcake compared to how it really was. But the survivors were as hard as rock and honed to an edge.
