Parcells is a Hall of Fame HC. Jason Garrett is only the HC of a NFL team because of Jerry Jones.
That is not exactly true. Garrett was considered a hot commodity as a young coach. I will say that the only reason he STILL has a job is because of Jerry.

This is painful but, how many many teams would switch QB's with us right now.

NFC East: Eli, Alex Smith, Wentz
NFC West: Jimmy G, Wilson, Goff, Rosen
NFC North: Rodgers, Cousins, Trubisky, Stafford
NFC South: Brees, Cam, Ryan, Winston

AFC East: Brady, Tanehill, Josh Allen, Darnold
AFC West: Rivers, Mahomes, Carr, Keenum
AFC North: Ben, Flacco, Mayfield, Dalton
AFC South: Luck, Watson, Mariota, Bortles.

Think about it, maybe 4, Eli, Winston, Bortles, Tanehill and those 4 could be toss ups.
BTW, I put the 2018 1st round rookies even if they are not starting yet, I'd have a hard time imagining that the GM's on those teams would make that trade.

Dak ain't a franchise QB

The Raiders would change positions with us so they wouldn’t be saddled with Carr’s $125 million contract. He was mediocre last year and threw 3 INT’s last night.

Nonsense. Cowboys scored 19, 17, 28, 30, 31, 40, 33 and 28 pts before that game, an average of 28 a game. 16 tds, only 4 ints. 4 ratings of 105 or better. Average completion rate of over 63%. One fumble, which was recovered by Dallas. 5-3 record.

He did not suck before the Atlanta game.

And what happened during the Atlanta game? First game without Zeke. Think that didn't have a lot to do with it?

In 1993, Emmitt held out, first two games, Dallas 0-2. And that on a team still with the Great Wall, Irvin, Novacek, Harper and Moose. This team had no Frederick, rookie Williams on the line, and we're surprised they only scored 8 pts? Broncos with Manning scored 8 pts in the SB, the AFC champions. Teams/quarterbacks have bad games. Maybe this will be the way it goes all year, we don't know. Doesn't look good at this time.

Maybe the Panthers defense is just that good, we don't know, it's the first game. Cowboys lost big time to the 1985 Bears team, but that team had a combined 91-10 playoff score, shut out TWO teams in the playoffs. Anybody but Miami sucked against that team, who's to say the Panthers won't be similar?

I'm as ticked as anyone about 8 pts and a loss, but it's one freaking game, I'm not going to dump all hopes for the season based on that, then you should find another team to cheer for, no point in upsetting yourself all year....

Stop. I broke these games down and called Dak out WAY BEFORE the Atlanta game for things you folks are just NOW calling out.

I don't want to hear this bullcrap. Own up. He had bad mechanics then, still had accuracy issues; raw stats do not tell you the things I was pointing out.

It shouldn't take this team becoming a dumpster fire for you to notice. Dak sucked always and was surrounded by good talent and a perfect situation in 2016. Deal with it.

Same goes for Zeke . Other than his rookie year, not a franchise rb.
6 game suspension, still almost 1000 yards. Averaged 98 yards a game. The next closest RB was Todd Gurley at 87 yards a game. Zeke was only 344 yards out of the top spot with 6 games missed! Top 10 running back in his second year. Would have lead the league two years in a row, but not a franchise RB. You guys have no concept of football if you are sitting here blaming Zeke.

I really think Dak has just regressed to the norm, though I think it's too premature to write him off entirely (I'm giving him the full season in my mind). I think the success you saw his rookie season is what I liken to a middling minor league pitcher coming up for a brief stint in the majors. Often times those kind of guys find success because initially there isn't much scouting on them and they catch the league off-guard.

However, after a few starts the league catches on, sees the pitcher's tendencies and adjusts. You have to remember in 2016 Romo was still the incumbent; teams were preparing to stop a Romo-led offense. Instead, they got Dak who has a much different game than Romo. Now, after two full seasons the book is out on him and opponents have adjusted.

Was this prior to you claiming Mo Claiborne was a shutdown corner?

While there is some truth to this, much of Dak's success came from the fact that he was playing with a very stripped down playbook. He wasn't asked to do much. As the season went on, he was able to gain confidence and lean heavily on the talented line, receivers and most importantly, RB.

Now expectations are higher. He no longer has his most dangerous/reliable targets and the OL is not as good, People have been crying about Dak's receivers not getting open, but the WR/TE Corps has been almost completley turned over and still, nobody gets open. Right. Can't blame Dez anymore.

Remember when I wiped the floor with you by breaking the game down for you play by play and you ran off into your hole and cried from there?

I remember. Good times.

Sorry, I'm not privy to your fantasies. Thanks for the comedy relief. We all enjoy it when you try to "breakdown film."

I'll preface this by saying I do think the Cowboys should be looking for another quarterback and very hesitant to give another contract to Dak at this point.

But...

I also find it interesting that no excuses are being afforded him like it was for Romo in 2009. Yeah remember those 6 sacks and the blaming of the O-line, receivers, and everything else under the sun? Dak sacked 6 times yesterday? Where's the outcry? Where's the excuses?

I hear he should have gotten the ball out quicker, shouldn't have made poor throws, should have gotten the ball deep. I'd argue Romo had more to work with (HOF WR- HOF TE)

Hmm.. Just interesting that's all.

You know, I did kind of feel like I was watching Carter again at QB on Sunday. Errant throws, bad reads, holding the ball too long. It was not a good game.

Unfortunately, I didn't want to make the comparison ... but I agree.

I'm watching re-runs of the Raiders - Rams MNF game. Pretty amazing what kind of small windows Goff is able to fit the ball into. I wonder to myself, "Can Dak do that ???"

CowboysZone ULTIMATE Fan
They sold the fan base the notion that Dak is a franchise QB after his rookie year.
Jerry Jones and company did not sell the fanbase jack ****. There was a significant number of the team's fans (and media) so enamored with Prescott--BEFORE THE END OF SEPTEMBER that year--that they were just as sold as Jones.

This site alone has plenty of posted comments inferring or practically saying Prescott was the next great Cowboys quarterback well before the playoffs began. "Sold the fan base." Please.

That's true, but a lot of us were worried about some of the aspects of his game (even as far as when Romo came back in 2016). Sadly some of these things are still issues for Dak (and some have just gotten plain worse). People were too quick to show Romo the door in Novemebr 2016 and were too quick to annoint Dak to one of the all-time greats. Now people are disappointed and are lashing out against Jerry, when they should be looking in the mirror if they think they've have been bamboozled. It's not on Jerry, it's on you.

Maybe the Cowboys can get Stafford or Ryan. They are franchise QBs and many of their fans want them both gone. Go to their message boards and check it out.

Dak is not the answer but neither was Romo. Wentz was the answer which is on the FO.

If you are doing what is best for the franchise without emotional strings attached and being logical it is simple easy to see.

Romo never excelled at timing routes and the coaching staff never bothered to develop that skill. Dallas' coaching staff expects players to develop themselves.

Dak needs to figure out how to make his reads quicker or take off running sooner.
He needs to eat, sleep, train, practice and esp watch film with Romo.

If you throw in their contracts I bet quite a few of those teams would. Then they could draft another QB to compete with him.
