If you want that vibe, Manhattan and Hermosa Beach does it better (aside from the aquarium)

Otherwise stick with the OC beaches and south.

Yea, they are still not sure what type of shark it was....unless I missed the update.

As for Pismo, that is a breeding ground and lots of Elephant Seals nearby.....not a good combo to go surfing.

I was just at Pt Mugu in July of 2016. Lots of Seals there, too. Lots of Whites. Gorgeous campgrounds (if you have a federal ID )

Not sure what else it would be, don't think Tigers are that far North. Blues are way offshore.
