What to do at the QB position

Step 1. Decide if Dak is worth moving forward with and acquire weapons in the off season.

Step 2. If he's not the guy, there is only one real option with the highest opportunity of success, move up to take the plum in the draft, Herbert. The fall off after him with QB's is steep and not near as deep as last season.

Even if they do trade up, unless they have the #1 already, there will be the NFL learning curve but they have started on a D that will help him, a top 3 RB and an OL that needs some tweaking.

Herbert already has a better arm, with regards to accuracy and zip, than most of the QB's in the NFL and all of the 1st rounders from last season. He's also 4" taller than Dak giving him the edge or sight and batted balls.

The challenge is there are going to be several teams including NYG, OAK, maybe TB and possibly PIT in the hunt for a QB.

If you haven't seen him play, you're best opportunity is this Sat when they square off with the Huskies, the best D they will face this season. So far this season, I have seen this kid make some p[***** that were incredible and even had the analysts shocked at the accuracy.

The other way to go with Step 1 is to get Taylor or Bridgewater and take the best QBA with their 1st and let all 3 compete in Dak's last contract year.

Then comes the tricky part. Can this present O coaching staff develop and rookie QB and run a QB competition? Because none of them have experience with that.

Well you do have a point there, what could we get for Dak ??? Would he be of more value as a backup ??? What is Daks Ceiling????
****On a side note -This just in Mirror Melon -now known as MelonPutty said his evil half is in total breakdown and has put his head in a cat liter box and thinks he is home sweet home.:omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg:

i dont think u can get more than a 3rd, and that is generous right now as his value is plummeting. that is why i suggested:
1. bench dak and try to reprogram his approach.
2. i think dak's approach is not nfl-compatible as he got used to 8 sec drops and triple checking before throwings. 2016 ol may be the worst thing that could have happened to dak in terms of development.
3. i am not sure dak can be reprogrammed, but he seems to learn in practice how to do a 3 sec drop while scanning the field. his mechanics need to be worked on.
4. remember romo got how many years before starting.
5. worst case, dak would be a great backup which has value.
6. that is why i am advocating trading for an experienced vet qb to figure out what we have on offense and help those guys develop. let dak be the backup and build him back up. tank the year and get the #1 pick.
7. let the rookie qb and dak fight it out next year. give the youngins enough time to develop.

melonputty will get some catnip if he gives up more info!

I get it & not arguing the overall point. I'm just saying Kellen never "made his way" by developing his own skills so I wouldn't have much confidence in his understanding of the nuances.

I'll put it to you the way one of my golfing buddies put it. This guy was "coaching" people & always asking folks could he work with them. My buddy plays with him one day and says he was OK but not a scratch golfer or anything. So, I asked him if he was going to work with him & he said "H no. If he can't beat me, I don't need his thoughts in my head".
Thats a pretty cool story:thumbup:

I guess we also took his pocket presence, accuracy, and vision down the field.

i think the ol downgrades broke dak.
he got used to 8 sec drops in 2016 and now must deal with 3 sec drops.
if he has upside, he needs to be benched and rebuilt to a 3 sec drop qb.
