One Thing We Should All Agree On About Dak

Romo won 2 playoff games in like 10 seasons. What excuses would you make for Romo? Or would you conclude that he simply wasn't good enough, since his 2 - 4 playoff record was utter crap?

Like most in here say, Dak has to get better, but we think he can (well, we're at least holding out hope because, well, why not?).

We wanted Romo to get better too, and he did, but not better enough, right? The question is...do we show patience with Dak like we did Romo (when I KNOW most of us in here would be screaming at the TV at some of his bad throws and bad decisions, and holding the ball too long only to fumble in the pocket, etc.).

Dak is winning right now, and he's not even at the top of his game yet. I'll take that. If this team were 5-11 in his 1st 3 seasons, I might have already lost patience too....instead, he's developing a winning mentality again in Dallas, raising expectations. I like it...
Romo is long gone. So blaming Romo somehow makes Daks suckage better? lmao

he has the glitch and it's not fixable. Fear ruins his game.

Linehan has done well with other quarterbacks.

Dak just isn't much to work with.

Can't make a Pig fly...no matter how many times you throw him off the roof.....Linehan should be given coach of the year honors having to work with such a INEPT QB....

Dak doesn't suck, because if he was truly awful, this team would suck. You can't win divisions if you're QB is truly awful.
We have a great team minus a qb. The east is a weak division. The skins just about made it back into the division race. The eagles might make it in too.

OK, so is Dak the best QB in the East, since his team will win the East? Wentz didn't look great every game this season, Foles looks good though. All things considered, Foles is probably the best QB in the NFC East right now...

And this Cowboys team is great, huh?????? LOL Rose-colored glasses for sure...

O Line isn't playing consistently great.

The WRs were below average until Coop arrived.

TEs are young and not making a huge impact yet.

The Dee Line is inconsistent (except for D Law)

The LBs are small, but young and fast

And the DBs still get beat too often, especially on 3rd down

And the OC and DC will routinely get outcoached.

And the young kicker has a huge leg, but not consistent....and with all that leg still can't kick the ball far enough in the end zone to thwart kick off returns.

So, yes, this team is GREAT, if you say so... ;)

In this day and age more than ever, coaching is a huge part of a Quarterbacks success. Simple examples like Goff with Fisher vs Goff with McVay, and how K. Shanahan can take Nick Mullen’s and make him a legit NFL Qb are great modern examples.

But even in history, no great QB has won a Super Bowl without great coaching. Montana, Brady, Farve, Brees, and Big Ben are all guys who we see as HOF’s but seem to forget the great coaching support they had around them.

I’m positive we all agree that the combo of Moore/Linehan/Garrett are near the bottom 5 in the league at development and expansion of a QB’s game. Without proper coaching, a player regresses or can become inconsistent, as the correct habits are not being taught and retained.

I don’t know why Dak is the only QB who is expected to flourish without good coaching. But it seems to me he is a prime example of a QB who could clean up his game with top notch coaching.

I think we should all agree to reserve full judgment on Dak until we see some type of competant coaching. Only then will we see the full picture.

**To those whining that Dak needs everything to win, please show me a guy who’s won anything significant with a bad coach and average personnel. Any Super Bowl winning team needs both great personnel and at least good coaching. Not one or the other.

Romo did everything on his own. He made his own calls, his own plays. What does this tell you about Romo ?

Dak is bad. Thats it. Coaching can do only so much of what talent gives offers.

Leave it alone.

We need a good QB.

Spend some resources!

Dak has the it factor. But the it factor is so U.S.A. All show no inner value.

Heck no, Eli with this line would be better and I don't like Eli. Foles or Wentz, is better. I guess Dak is about as good as the guy the Skins brought in off the streets. Guy didn't even know the system and played behind the worst offensive line in the NFL.
I'd say Dak is around 22-26 in the NFL.

The combination of Linehan and Moore as coaches of the QB/O is like trying to swim in a rip current with a fat, panicky tuba player on your back.

LMAO and I agree

I have said, even dating back to Romo leading the Cowboys, that the offense has to overcome not only the other team's defense, but Linehan as well.

And the defense in many games, same challenge....stale playcalling, no deception, so the other team just picks the Cowboys apart. So the defense also has to play out of their minds since the opposing QB knows the EXACT defense being played on most downs (if not EVERY down).

No amount of good coaching can fix lack of instincts, ability to read and anticipate, the things you can’t teach or coach are some of Dak biggest flaws.

I disagree. He flaws are very “fixable”. He holds the ball too long and doesn’t trust his reads, looking off open receivers downfield. He’s not the first QB to have these problems in his third year in the NFL. These things can absolutely be corrected with better coaching.

I can promise you that Garrett, Linehan or Moore are not coaching Dak to have accuracy issues and poor pocket presence. Dak has had those issues his entire career and many coaches will take the heat for his lack of talent in certain qualities that a QB should have to be successful.
Absolutely. They're also not doing anything to help overcome these issues.

To me, the standard of what to expect from the QB in this scheme was set in 2014, when our QB had a 69.9 completion percentage, almost 4,000 yards passing, 34 TD passes, 9 ints. and a 113 rating. We also averaged 29.2 points per game (9 more than we currently average). That quarterback was fully developed so I'm not asking Dak to be him at this point. I'm just saying that Linehan's offense didn't exactly hurt that QB so I don't think he can be fully blamed for Dak not playing at a higher level.

Even Dak's own rookie season showed that a higher level can be achieved in this offense, although defenses adjusted to take away Beasley, which has hurt Prescott the last two years because it took away his easy outlet.

So, I think we can judge him compared to those standards. If anything, the evidence shows that Linehan's offense has been hurt by having Dak at QB.

I'm a big believer that we need a different offensive scheme to better take advantage of the things Dak does well if we're going to keep him at QB. However, it's hard to say Linehan's offensive scheme cannot be successful with the right QB for the scheme because it has been. I think its limitations will always hold it back even with the best QB, but it has shown that it can function better than it is this season.

LMAO. who's good enough to carry Dak.?
who we going to blame next?
Dang it's Jerry's time? He only got Dak one super star wr. Dak needs two cause he can't find one when he's glitching out from pressure.
I guess everyone is, because no matter who he is playing with HE STILL WINS! It must be everyone else!

It must be tight ends
It must be Linehan
It must be Moore
It must be the Oline

You're thinking one solid receiving threat is a wealth of recources? Think about that for a second.
