You can take some solace in the fact that the Cowboys defense is one of the best red zone defenses in the league.

True but in this game the defense will need to get some take aways. Our give away\take away has not been great in this game we need to create some turnovers

And let's be honest, after people in this thread have talked about how great a job Garrett has done and built a real contender and how we've been rewarded for our patience, they'll have excuses come Monday if we lose and once again fail to make a NFC title game in 8 full years under Garrett. The cry will be, we are almost there.

Just like how we were almost there after 2014. Or 2016.

I bet you hope we do lose Saturday so you can continue to fight your good fight about how you know everything and tell them how wrong they are. Must be miserable watching the games.

Some turnovers would certainly help. Our ball control offense also has the potential of limiting the Rams offense. Playoff football.

Jason Garrett built this team precisely the way he described he wanted to when he became Head Coach.

Jason Garrrett decides the type of player that he wants and the scouts look for guys with these specific traits. Jason Garrett is rarely overuled.

Jason Garrett, the son if an NFL scout with a 30 year career, knows how to assess talent. His brother Judd is Director of Advance Scouting for the Cowboys.

Jason Garrett could care less about fan perception or who gets credit for what. That why he is the perfect fit for Jerry Jones and the Cowboy franchise. Garrett has Jerry Jones's complete support.

Sounds like a lot of insider information. For instance how do you know that Jason Garret hardly ever gets over ruled when it comes to drafting? And why would the organization talk about there being a vote when there is not?

Puppets don’t dream. Puppets don’t have to put up with people who can’t see the obvious because of their agenda to constantly critisisze Garrett. Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.

Geez there your crowd goes again with the agenda talk. My only Agenda would be for the cowboys to win. XD not that talking on some cowboys forum would change anything though.

You haven't listened to JG from the time he became head coach. If you had you would know that he's built the team just the way he said from day one.

Yep. It's going to be one of those games where they keep getting down there, and we keep stopping them. Eventually, though, they'll start scoring, and then we're going to have to keep up. I think we can do it, but this is a difficult team to just wear down physically and beat up with the running game. I think we're going to need a big defensive play or two (takeaway, score) to win here.

So you saying Jason Garret is the only person in the world that likes the old school Power Football style offense? That there aren't any others in the organization who believe in the same thing, especially since that was the formula for the Glory Days down here? And People who believe such wouldn't hire a coach that has the same philosophy. Wow Jason Garret must be an innovator, to think of what no one else has thought of, especially considering at the time defenses weren't build to handle that type of football anymore. So you are telling me because Jason Garret believes in that type of offense, that Steven Jones can't and that Jerry can't and that any of the other coaches who have a vote during draft time according to what has been said don't.

He put all the people in the right spots so we have the knowledge to draft good and spend the right way in FA.

So in essence he does all the above mentioned. Because he follows a bigger plan which he developed.

You were at the meeting to see it yourself?

Yes, you got me.

Despite the fact I’ve said in other threads I hope they win, and that it would be great if Garrett proved to be that elite coach.

Good work.

It doesn't need to refute it, because it's not a very good point. You've got an unusual situation in Dallas right now that doesn't really exist in most NFL cities, and for good reason. The fact that there's not evidence of an unusual situation being successful elsewhere isn't good evidence that it can't be successful here. Especially when you actually take a look and realize we've been pretty successful with it here and you just don't want to acknowledge it. 2 of the last 4 years, we've had the best record in the NFC. We win more games than most NFC teams have won since Dak's been on board, and we've advanced again this year. If the only argument you have against it is 'other teams haven't done it this way,' then so what?

There is nothing unusual about Dallas.

It’s simply a situation where the owner thinks of his coach as an asset and if they continue to invest time and money into this, he’ll grow into a great coach. That’s not an unusual thing when you consider the Steelers did it with Cowher and Noll, the Raiders did it with Madden. But all three of those guys have success on the field, including postseason success that gave the owners reason to stick with them.

It’s not about other teams having done it a certain way. It’s about the fact that almost every great coach in NFL history has shown far more success over an 8 year period than Garrett.

I think at this point you are purposely trying to be obtuse on this point.

Taking them from 3-5 to the divisional playoff game. You have to give the coaches some much deserved credit.
What more do you need to see?

I think we are failing to separating team building from game planning, or I guess the popular term around here is scheming... I just don't buy the notion that Garret is Bill Parcells and built the current team. I'm not saying he hasn't had his hand in the pot. There doesn't seem to be one mastermind who builds the cowboys. It's been working in recent years. But I'm not going to pretend Jason is the next Tuna when he's not.

The key to winning in the playoffs is to build a team from the trenches out. You must be able to control both lines of scrimmage. You must be able to run the ball and stop the run. You must be able to win time of possession. You must minimize the turnovers. You must play tough, physical football. Garrett has accomplished all of the above and we’re just getting started.
