Friggin ATVs, yeah they're fun to ride but flying around on them almost always ends with injury.

A great off season????
Lol how do you figure

We:
Replaced Beasley for cheap
Added value depth at DT
Added value depth at DE
Restructured Lee’s contract
Franchised Lawrence
Signed our starting TE
And most importantly: Avoided adding salary that could keep us from re-signing our own guys

bought time at the wr3 position by taking a former top wr no one signed with questionable availability due to last year, giving time for
added valued depth at dt
saved 50% on lee contract instead of cutting him
franchised lawrence but may be in for a fight
signed a former starting te for situational use
did not add any bad contracts

positioned to draft dl's, s, rb2
if they can actually nail 2 of these needs, it would be great (say dl and s)
all 3 and it would be a big score like last year even if williams needs an offseason to bulk up
even if adding quinn, rde is a need but could give a year to give taco/armstrong significant reps
need to add a player with starter potential at de or 3tech
safety at 2nd or 3rd round
a rb to give zeke rest and/or an austin replacement next year

TJ Yeldon is still out there. I think he’d be a solid backup, as long as he’s cheap. A couple safeties still, too.

I’m fine trading for Quinn, but not if we have to sign him to a costly extension.

I’m hoping we cover one more need, at least, prior to the draft. Preferably at S and/or DE.

with choices available, quinn would probably be biggest need

I was really pulling for him, my pet cat at the time. The post Irvin, pre Dez years were pretty bleak.

TO and Miles Austin were very good some of those years.

Unfortunately Roy WR Williams was a big fail and Joey Galloway was OK but not worth one 1st round pick let-alone two 1st round picks.

Amari Cooper is the most talented WR since Mike Irvin. Aikman says Cooper is the best route runner that he has ever seen and Aikman played with Irvin and against Jerry Rice.

LOL, some of these are real reaches.

I mean how can anyone say "signing our starting TE" is somehow a real successful offseason move? Franchising Lawrence isn't a win in the offseason, it was a necessity to keep one of your best players here. A win would be a fair contract for all and that doesn't appear to be hear on the horizon.

I get depth at DT and DE but we also need starting caliber players at both spots and got zero in FA (unless the Quinn trade comes down). Plus the "depth" we signed at DE? The guy is a JAG, he might be another D. Moore. Cobb seems to be the only signing that has the potential to really help the team in 2019, the others are just status quo moves.

Nothing about this offseason is great at this point. That could change but right now, it seems like it's a typical offseason for the Cowboys..........

The "medical information" research must need more in depth research.

Adding Witten is a plus. I think he’ll be out most complete TE and gives us another year to figure it out.

Fair enough on Lawrence. The right move is to franchise him and continue to negotiate, though. I’m confident both sides will be happy soon enough.

We can’t afford starter caliber signings at DT and DE. It’s a players market at those positions. A big signing at those spots would hinder our chances of signing the 6 guys we need to in the next 16 months or so.

That “JAG” DE had 8 sacks on limited snaps during his last healthy season.

You have to have realistic expectations. If you expected starters at DE, DL, and S, for example, your expectations were never realistic.

You’re right: This is status quo. And I really like the status quo, if the alternative is signing bad contracts, as we’ve done in the past. The model is: Build through the draft, keep your core guys, fill holes with value in FA. Sign me up for that every year.

I don't think the Seahawks would have released McDowell if they thought there was a chance he could play. We don't know for sure, but I'm guessing there are very long odds on this one.

There are additional tweets from other sources saying the team is leaning towards signing him if cleared. If he is indeed cleared, this will be a great chance signing.

Doesn't he come with character concerns too? Something just doesn't seem right here. Hasn't played a down in the NFL, freaky accident on an ATV, a run in with police a few years back. IDK, seems risky and we're crying about Berry being risky.

Jaylon Smith was a hard worker and zero character concerns.

That’s not the case with McDowell.

I am all for taking a flier on him but people should temper their expectations that we got some sort of steal here.
I wouldn’t throw any signing bonus at him
The good news is he hasn’t made much money and he likes to party so he’s probably broke
Money is a good motivator
Min contract with good incentives
Give him a chance to earn it
