Having been down on that field several times I can tell you it absolutely is.. All football fields are higher in the middle and get progressively lower towards each sideline and each end zone. They used to do it for drainage.. Hard to say why they still do it for indoor stadiums but they do..

Texas Stadium had a high crown in the middle of the field as well. Brett whatshisname used to complain that was why he could never win there

Last week against the Birds Zeke had 95 yards. He was pulled with plenty of time left on the clock to run another 5 yards for to get over 100 for the day.
Can he run as fast as he use to? Probably not but I do like that he is still running hard and punishing defenders. I bet Pollard likes it also
In the Garrett era they would have put him back in to get the 5 more yards. Garrett was all about glam and stats and never the bottom line.

C’mon guys.

Both camps can be right here.

Zeke HAS lost some speed. In 2016, he hit 21.5mph. That little extra meant more house calls on those longer runs and would likely have got him to the endzone yesterday.

Zeke also looks quicker and more powerful than he has in years. He has returned to being an elite running back this year.

Both things are true.

Cant be. I heard here he was done and doesnt have that speed anymore.

It's like you didnt even read the part where he hasn't done it in 4 years. That data just backs up everyone that has been critical of him for being overweight and slow.

Glad to see he finally decided to show up in shape for the first time in 4 seasons. All praise be to Zeke.

Not only did he have the angle, but #21 has sub 4.5 speed at safety. Pollard wasn't going to get in on that play, either.

Pollard had several runs where he got to the second level untouched the last few weeks.. and not a single house call among them.. yet every time Zeke gets a long one "Pollard would have scored." Maybe let's see Pollard score on some of his own runs before we start awarding him TDs on Zeke's.

The crown at TS was ridiculous.. If you stood on one sideline you could not see below the waist of players on the opposite side. It's not nearly that high at AT&T but it's still there..

Yeah, the whole 'Zeke is slower' take is silly. He wasn't just a football player at OSU, he was a track star as well. I love Tony - I had Memphis Tiger season tickets for almost 25 years. Not that it matters, but he didn't even start at RB for Memphis. He's fast....just like Zeke is.

Yeah I don't even care if Pollard is in fact faster than Zeke.. I do know that he is quicker.. But is he a better football player? I doubt it. Apparently so do the people who decide who plays.. I like Pollard... I like him in the role he's being used.. We're winning.. so the impetus to change things simply does not exist. If we reel off three or four losses in a row with Zeke averaging < 4 ypc then we can talk. But talk of replacing a guy who is in the top 5 in the NFL in rushing on a largely reduced carry load is ridiculous. Especially when you watch the games... and watch defenders struggle to get up off the ground every time they tackle him. Dude is a load..

Chinn got off his block and was in full sprint while Zeke was fighting off 42. You can see here in this picture that Zeke is gearing down to evade the tackler and Chinn and #29 are in pursuit..

Notice Zeke is near the hash marks ..

Then here when #42 gets to him he is moving sideways.. meanwhile Chinn continues sprinting upfield.

Now here you can see Zeke has finally completely shed the tackler and turns upfield.. But by this time Chinn has run 10 yards towards the endzone while Zeke has been trying to avoid the tackle. Chinn is MUCH closer to full speed at this point than Zeke is.

You can see here where Chinn is already ahead of Zeke as they are about to cross the 35 yard line.

They basically remain in that relationship for the next 25 yards until Chinn pushes him out of bounds. One thing I didn't notice before was that Zeke clearly slows down towards the end of the run in anticipation of the hit. I think if he just keeps his head down and moves away from the sideline he probably breaks the tackle and scores. Either way, the run was not long enough for Zeke to reach full speed no matter what people try to tell you. But kudos to Chinn.. great hustle play by him. Like I keep saying, you don't get coast to coast runs without wide receivers blocking.. Notice no wide receivers out there blocking on this play and the DB chases it down.

Excellent breakdown!! This is where we miss having guys like Dez Bryant and Terrance Williams. They were excellent downfield blockers and could escort you to the end zone.

If that's the case then Garrett should have let Zeke try for the rookie rushing record.

That’s completely false unless you farther back away from Zeke.

Well Chinn is a heck of a safety too, these are all world class athletes playing the sport at the highest level. Getting caught by Chinn doesn't take away from the fact this was a textbook level play, from the line, the tight ends, and Zeke. A classic example of what happens when everybody on offense does their jobs perfectly.

Careful. That type of logic isn’t allowed on the site.

I knew of another RB who frequently got chased down. I think he’s in the HOF.

Can't count how many times we watched #22 get caught from behind. Never bothered me a bit. Glad there wasn't a message board back then. Somebody would've complained after we hung 52 on the Bills or that we didn't shut out the Dolphins.
