After watching Aaron Donald we could really use something similar

LA held the leagues top rushing offense to 50 yards. I'd say Sf did not handle that DL at all. They couldn't move them.

they had what.1 sack…? They stopped the run mostly but didn’t get the pressure I expected. I imagine that was part of the game plan…make Jimmy G beat you. Cuz he can’t

Aaron Donald is a generational talent. He might be the greatest DT who ever played. His combination of speed, size, and most importantly, his motor are rarely seen.

He is actually the prototypical Rod Marinelli DT and Rod could never come close to finding someone with that level of talent.
Dont forget Warren Sapp was a beast to.

I know i'm beating a bit of a dead horse here, but this is what keeps me going back to our guys. 6-2 280LBS, explosive off the ball, and a heavy motor is Osa Odighizuwa. Guy isnt nearly as strong and physical as Donald, nor will he ever be, but I can see this guy developing into a poor mans version of Donald.
I would love to see it happen. It would be nice to see us develop a defensive tackle into a regular pro bowler.

And that is exactly what Jerry probably thinks so he does not even try.

We had Bob Lilly and Randy White who were right there with Donald if not better. Lett was not that far off either. Since then? NADA.
You forgot we had some dude called Ware? He was pretty decent…

Yeah and Jimmy G had a bad thumb on his throwing hand. But, SF is still in a great position to get better next year. I wouldn't bet against them.
Agree. Anytime a team can run the ball and be physical, u can beat anyone.

Sapp, in his prime, was nearly unblockable. He had a 3 year span where he dominated. Donald has been good longer. Very consistent. Hands down, Bob Lilly is the BEST DT to ever play. The guy could have played any position on the dline. He was rare. He could have lined up and been ALL pro in any era.

Is there a PO Box or something where we can collectively send a letter to Jerry and our scouting department letting them know to be on the lookout for an Aaron Donald type of player?

Definitely an analysis that slips under the radar!

Oh I have my nostalgic biases too. He is most certainly better than John Randle. And while I love Randy White and Bob Lilly, Aaron Donald is freakishly quick and bigger than both of them. If he retired today, he would be a first ballot HOFer.
I have seen Aaron Donald in person, in street clothes. He is listed at 6 foot 1 and 285. If he is actually those listed measurements, he is certainly no bigger. My point is, he is not a big hulking guy.
