I am still struggling to find out how exactly this is addition by subtraction.

It was a move predicated solely by our mismanagement. It does not speak to any kind of philosophical shift in how Jerry Jones does business.

Not Ware's fault but sometimes management has to recover from it's mistakes and with Ware's recent injury history coupled with his salary he was the logical choice. Hopefully, and I'm crossing my fingers here, our management can take positive steps going forward. Jerry's a little long in the tooth to learn new tricks but lets hope.

The window for this team has been closed for three years now, why Jerry and so many fans haven't figured that out is beyond me....it's long past due for this team to be gutted and rebuilt from top to bottom....I would of traded Ware two years ago instead of over paying for aging players, it's a young man's game now, but Jerry will never learn, he thinks building a team form outside/in is the way to go, yet other good teams build from the inside/out......chasing 8-8 and a playoff birth with mediocrity and over paid aging core veterans isn't the answer, this isn't the 70's and 80's anymore...

Calling out others for a lack of cognitive activity is quite ironic when the caller (you) makes mistakes like "I would of" (would have) and "playoff birth" (berth).

It would probably behoove you to square away your own lack of cognitive skills before bagging on others for theirs.

Thats the real problem there. Its going to take at least 2 more seasons to build the defense. Then they might be a contender but whos to say romo will still be playing in 3 years. Then who knows how many years until dallas finds a decent qb after romo. 3-6 years?

Well, no, it is going to be the same as it has always been. Rather random, and that comes from straight from Jerry, if you didn't have a ton of other dead money and stupid contracts, then you could have kept Ware on if you chose too. I'd rather have Ware on the books for $12M and playing than $8M and not playing.

According to over the cap, we are leading in the dead money category again - over $20 mm, how can being so critically cap constrained (again) that you have to make that decision in the first place, been seen as a virtue?

"the organization is maturing finally and understanding when to cut bait on a player."

Yes they have matured on a player over 30. I still think they are going to show their true colors and not be as mature when assessing the situation with #88. #88 is Jerry's pet project ... and he will lose all that maturity when dealing with #88.

Um, with a little thing called the draft. Sign a player or two in free agency and draft a player or two and you have a brand new, young dline.

If it was just that easy.....Good luck with thato_O

I've come to the conclusion....why stop @ Ware and Austin? If this is the beginning of the rebuild process then clean house. Fire sale!!!!! What does this team really have that is worth hanging on to? About 5 guys( T.Smith, Bryant, Frederick, B. Carter and Claiborne)....the rest. I'd trade in a heartbeat. That includes Romo, Mr Glass Sean Lee, Murray, Witten.

Exactly. Football business, or lack of, as usual.

~Watch them sign Jared mid-season. ~

The Cowboys let go of Charles Haley in 1996. It took 10 freaking years to find his replacement in Ware. Guys like Ware don't grow on trees. Cutting him is just another mistake Jerry will regret in a few years after he realizes he can't replace him. Jerry slammed the door on any title hopes during the Romo era yesterday.

Draft, free agency and getting injured guys back. Will the DL be great? No but it can be average which is better than last year. Plus Marinelli always gets his DL to play well.

Fire sale is so maddenesque. While the thought makes sense in a vacuum it isn't a realistic option in real life. First and foremost is that it isn't fair to the players left on the team who have worked all their lives to be part of a team trying to reach the Superbowl. Nor is it fair to fans who are paying for tickets and paying high cable prices.... much of which is going to pay for NFL contracts.

Can I get a poll?

Call it now, not after he signs somewhere. Did the Cowboys make the right decision with Ware?

as painful as it is to say. yes. too much money for a player that's obviously on the decline and has been injured. Billicheck and bill walsh say, its better to let a player go a year too early than a year too late.

Until they sign their baby #88 to a deal and pay him like Megatron. Tell me you cant see that coming like a freight train down the tracks.

You pay a 24 y.o WR with great talent and a fierce competitive spirit in my opinion. You don't pay aging, broken down players who aren't quite as competitive.

they are not going to its that simple they have had there chance for the last three years they will finish in last place this year

Are you sure about that? The Giants just lost their best DL(I guess) in Linval Joseph to the Vikings and Tuck is out there shopping himself around. So, the NYG might be without 50% of their starting lineup on the DL and they took some hits on their OL. Their LB corp is a mess and they thought Dan Connor was part of the solution last year. And their secondary is nothing to write home about. That's just on defense. The NYG offense isn't looking a whole lot brighter. No TE, serious question marks at RB, not much other than Cruz at WR, players forced to take a paycut on the OL, a QB who digressed last year, and a whole new offensive system to learn.

The Washington team didn't do a whole lot so far with their extra cap money and doesn't have a 1st rd pick.

Last place? I wouldn't say that right now. I'd say we have a good chance to compete for the NFC East title again if we get a break on the injury front and have another good draft.

No.....great players like him come once in a lifetime. The guy was playing hurt with three different injuries and when healthy he still is an impact starter. 19.5 sacks in 11 and 11.5 in 12 while missing games. Jerry seems to miss on every contract move he ever makes and this is no different. Can't wait till next season is over and a lot of people around here are eating there own words when he has 12+ sacks for the Saints or another ball club.

I don't doubt that if he gets healthy next year he might have 12+ sacks. but how many more years does he have left and how close are we to being a true championship team. as bill walsh said, he rather let a player walk away one year to early than one year too late. billicheck let seymore walk and he was a very good player at the time. the question is will ware be a double digit sack guy 2 or 3 years from now?

Clearly you and I don't see eye to eye on the player. I thought it was a mistake to even draft him. We will just agree to disagree.

Romo is not going to be able to continue carrying this team if we ever have real Superbowl hopes.

Dallas has to build a stout defense and have the ability to move the ball on the ground when they need it.

If it's all Romo or bust than we'll bust everytime.
