If we lose tomorrow is this season a failure?

If you had asked me this during the middle of the season, I would have said no, but once you reach the divisional playoffs, any loss from that point on is a wasted opportunity.

Yes, we have young players like Dak, Elliott, etc. with a bright future ahead of them, but there's a lot more that goes into a season than just one or two players. Two years ago, we thought we were back. Then we lost Romo and Murray in 2015 and we went 4-12. Just because the future appears to be really good for the Cowboys does not guarantee we will be back in this position next year or in the next few years. You have to take advantage of your opportunities right now and let the future play out when it happens.

While I won't call this year a failure if we lose, given we ended up better than we hoped after losing Romo, I will say that losing any of the next three games will be wasting one of the best opportunities we have had in the last 10 years.
Bingo!

In 2009 we finally won a playoff game. Going into 2010 many had us as a SB contender. The team flopped big and got the coach fired. The following 3 years brought one heartbreak after another. You never know.

Of course I would like to win a Superbowl, but not at all do I call this a failure. I think we've shown we are going to have a force for years to come. We have two rookies on offense leading the way. If we don't win, it's a learning experience and hope they become hungrier. But.....my flight is already booked for Houston, so they better win!

A similar thread was started a few weeks ago asking the same question. If we lose tomorrow it's going to be like what happened in 07, winning 13 games, our division, earning the #1 seed and going one and out to team at home that we beat during the regular season. Hard to spin any positives about a season when something like that happens. Not only did we beat the Packers during the regular season but we beat them handily and they're coming in tomorrow a little beat up with their #1 receiver out. What we accomplished during the regular season has set the bar very high and to end up one and done to a team we've already beaten would give this season a huge black eye and conjure up bad memories from the 07 season. Naturally they'll be some FANS who will look to spin positives, talking about how we bounced back from 4-12 in 2015 to 13-3 this season and we did it with a rookie QB.

Some will look to make excuses if we lose saying that if Romo was the QB we would have won. We all know that's coming by some if we lose "Yeah, if we had Tony we would have won and ended up in the SB." If Dak has a bad game tomorrow you can bet the Dak vs Romo debate will start up again and it could get pretty nasty in here. There's still a divide amongst Romo FANS who still want him as the QB thinking he gives us our best chance especially against Aaron Rodgers. The Cowboys haven't made it past the second round of the playoffs in 21 years, we have to stop that streak tomorrow or this season will be looked back on in the same dim light as the 07 season.

Yes. I only say that because all Green Bay has is Aaron Rodgers. We are superior in every other part of thevery game. Rodgers shouldn't be able to rise above our entire roster and beat our entire team.

Green Bay is out matched. So if we lose, it is a big fail. Atlanta is another story. I won't say we should beat that team. They are a really good well rounded team that is also very explosive.

Rodgers is a difference maker and if we can't contain him it's likely to be a long day unless we can outscore them. If he plays the way he did last week our defense is no match for that. We're going to have to rough him up for 4 quarters.

Failure, I don't know...maybe more disappointment for me. I think we only lose if we fail to run Zeke 25-30 times and if we turn the ball over...we need to utilise our strengths in this game, let's not get sucked into a depleted GB secondary and go pass happy.

It had to be asked. I say bigtime failure! I know a lot of you say it's gravy as we found Dak, but it's more. We are 100% healthy for the first time this year and have HFA. We lose and it might be the worst loss in Cowboys history IMO. No pressure Rooks!
We have built the future.I and most would have taken 13-3 during preseason. I'm happy going in and out of this game.

it would really be disappointing to see this team go one and done. I just do not trust garrett to get this team ready to win a big playoff game. three times he has been a coach with this team in last ten years to lose a second round playoff game. who knows if next year this team with a harder schedule might end up 8-8 again. this has to be the year that we need to get to a nfc championship game. this chance may not come again for another two to three years. the eagles and giants are going to be better next year so no guarantee that this team will have a chance to make the playoffs next year.

Why talk about it now? Just wait a while.

Putting the success line at the NFCG is going the moral victory route. I don't think there's any difference of success between the rounds of the playofs. Losing is losing, and winning is winning. Don't matter when it happens if you're predicted to be a SB contender. The offseason is not going to feel any better if we win today and lose to Atlanta. Same thing if we win the NFC, and lose the SB.

To me you either declare the season a SB or Bust (Success/Fail), or you judge the product and deem it good or deem it bad, entertaining or unwatchable.

This is the right answer. No one saw this year coming. But you don't get where we are today and squander it away.

Our regular season was a huge success. But our playoff season doesn't even start until this afternoon. We need to win right now.
