See, this is EXACTLY what I'm talking about. One game is not a drop off. (.800 baseball!) The Rangers are 8-2 in their last ten games. They are still tied for the best record in baseball which is something they just achived recently. If someone is dropping off, it was the Cubs allowing the Rangers to catch them.
Agreed there hasn't been a drop-off. But this stretch through July is going to be really important for the them, especially with a Houston team that has righted their ship, at least for the moment. The Rangers have got to figure out how to fight through this stretch with the three starters on the shelf.
I was at the game on Friday night and it was painful. They need to take advantage of as many of their opportunities in the non-Hamels starts as possible until they begin getting their A-team pitchers back. Even though it was only one game, it was painful to see that one slip away. But really encouraging to see them come back and take the series anyway.
My new stat for this stretch is WINHS. (Wins in Non-Hamels Starts). So far, 2-1.
