The Rangers have a good team.

But their first half was somewhat an illusion. Their run-differential stats were way worse than what their record indicated. They were amazingly fortunate in 1-run games. Regression was bound to happen– which was sped up by the injuries issues of the pitching staff.

The Rangers certainly can right this ship and return to the post-season.

It just isn't going to be as easy as the first-half of the season.

actually they were the first team in 12 years to have to play a road schedule like they did. They just played 24 out of 28 games on the road with one day off.
They are a different offensive team at home and they get to drag teams in to the heat here and suffer.

One way or another they will get a back end starter a bullpen piece and maybe a bat.

I am confident they are in this till the end of the season. I don't think illusion is the right word, attrition might be. Playing that much on the road with the injuries that hammered them over the last 35 days or so is pretty tough on anyone.

Oh no question... The schedule was not kind to them.

What do you guys think of the Fielder injury? Will it impact the team heavily or will they just push on. The Rangers look great this season. Just wanted to ask you guys since i dont catch a lot of their games living in Toronto.

Didn't want any part of Fielder before they got him, thought he just wanted to get paid and be fat. As far as impact you probably want your DH to hit above .200. or at least be productive in some way, he's not.

At this point Fielder could be done. Two neck surgeries in 3 years... Plus with his body-shape...

Even AFTER this season he's still owed another $96,000,000.00

Any news on potential trades for the Rangers? I don't watch the games much, but I've been trying to get into baseball more. I know that they need some pitching help right?

I don't know if there's any reason to at this point. They've been linked to Rays pitchers.

But Griffin is getting his early in the year stuff back. Darvish is back and only going to get better. Hamels should by a CY Young candidate. Perez is what he is, he's hit or miss. Holland/Lewis both going to be activated in a few weeks, and they picked up some bullpen help a few days ago.

Are you going to trade a top prospect in Gallo and at least one more guy for, at best, a #3 who may be marginally better than Griffin when healthy? Meh.

Just keep them. Hamels/Darvish is a great 1-2, and between Griffin, Perez, Holland, and Lewis in a few weeks, you should be able to round out a pretty solid rotation.

Nice weathering the storm Texas had. Houston got within 2.5 last week and now to end July, they increase the lead up to 6. Still need pitching though. However, I am against anything that has up giving up Mazara.

Who did the Rangers give up?

Nevermind, I see now. Didn't give up Gallo or Profar either. Nice moves.

Pitchers Dillon Tate, Erik Swanson and Nick Green for Beltran and cash.

OF Lewis Brinson and Pitcher Luis Ortiz for Lucroy and Jeffress.

A bunch of decent minor leaguers... good minor leaguers, but still minor leaguers.

I admit my own personal view of Gallo isn't the highest... I think he K's way to much to be a good major leaguer, but we'll see.

At this point the Rangers shouldn't have any excuses.

yea Im good with what they got, two .300 bats and a 28 yr old bullpen arm who has been lights out this year.....unless more injuires keep pilin up, no other excuse not to win the division again and be in the ALCS again at least.....

Bats have turned ice cold, but more importantly the pitching has started showing up

Comeback after comeback after 1 run win after 1 run win.

Just win. 7 game lead in division. Astros 8.5 back. It's going to require a miracle or a hamels+darvish IR trip for them to pick up 9 games now. If the bats start showing up there's no reason we can't take the AL

He is set to retire. Press conference tomorrow. I have heard that Detroit had a policy for this but it was negotiated that the policy would carry over to the Rangers.

Evan Grant of DMN is stating the contract is partially ensured and since the doctors won't clear Fielder, he isn't technically retiring. So he is owed $9M per year thru 2020 instead of $20M per year.

Yep, that's what I'm hearing.

It appears the Rangers will be on the hook for $9 mil a year thru 2020.
