#34 Darius Jackson

Elliot, Morris, McFadden are locks to make this team. We may keep a 4th one and thats where the battle begins.

Rod Smith is a name to keep an eye on.

I think they are moving him to fullback and he seems really well liked by the staff and the lockeroom.

Exactly. What folks here are not talking enough about is the fact that, midseason last year when McFadden took over, we changed our blocking scheme to accommodate him. Went from primarily zone to primarily man. I think the FO signed Morris to replace McFadden as the lead back because he is better at zone running. Then, we made the move for Zeke. Jackson is a perfect 3rd RB because he can play ST well. If Zeke shows that he can play 3rd downs well (we know he can block but has to pick up the mental part), there really is no room for McFadden and his $2m salary on this roster.

Well this sounds familiar....

Year in and year out, hasn't there been enough proof that you never assume your star player is even going to make it to the regular season?

Rookies get hurt, especially.

Pray it never happens but let's be realistic.

Jackson is part of the Cowboys being realsitic. There are a few emergency scenarios where McFadden, Morris and Jackson are the rotation.

Yep.
Ask Jacksonville last year.
Their top 5 pick, stud pass rusher, wrecked his knee in the 1st week of practice.

Jackson better be good on special teams because that's the only way he makes this roster.

Yes Zeke can do it all. But we'll see just how much they expect of him as a rookie.

Well, I dont think you want to burn out a back like we did with Murray.
400 carries is too much even if he can handle the load next year.
I dont know what is an ideal load though for year 1, 2, 3 etc.

Great pick. Only issue is after investing so much in Elliott, there's not a lot of room at the position.

I do think Jackson is heck of a prospect, especially in the 6th round.

I think it'll be Elliott, Morris, and Jackson.

I don't think McFadden makes the team and Dunbar will be PUP/IR.

That's exactly my point/question.

Jaylon isn't a running back. His brother Rod is and that's who we Talking about

Please try and pay attention. KJJ said the likelihood we keep 4 rbs is reduced since we are holding a roster spot open for Smith who likely won't play all season.

I simply responded stating that Smith would likely start the season on PUP.

Neither KJJ nor myself were talking about Rod.

See I Didn't see that comment. I'm sorry guess I need to read the entire conversation. My mind got going with another conversation I was having.

Thanks for the correction, I was wrong

He will need to make the special teams. Maybe punt and kick-off return.

But what intrigues me is his speed and pass catching ability.

This guy could play out of the slot, or split wide. He has the size.

Meh, I was pretty ok with signing him last year (although I was assuming they would draft someone too). I didn't know they would need to change the blocking scheme completely for him to be remotely effective though.

With Morris in, I think that is what makes him expendable.

They did? First I've heard that.

Jackson hasn't done squat. Until he does and wows the coaches, McFadden is on the team.
