Then why was T.O. targeted at all then,he has never been known as precise route runner.

Craig

As I do recall, there were issues with TO's# of targets as well when he was here...

Let me say it again.. If Roy had TO's "work ethic" he would be a star right now and we wouldn't even be having this conversation. Roy runs lazy routes. TO did the same thing but TO turned it on at certain times and lit it up (very selfish I might add)... Roy hasn't turned anything on yet. Still waiting. :hammock:

Because T.O. was a lot more stronger and powerful than RW in Big D, and could get off the press a lot easier than Roy.

I'm not buying into that theory,T.O. struggled with press coverage last year here and is struggling in Buffalo against the press also.

Agreed, and that's why Jerry let him go. But in 06' and 07', you couldn't stop him if pressed. Roy isn't a physical WR; he depends on his natural ability and that will only get you so far in the NFL..

Owens work ethic is something that no one can take away from Owens,he is without doubt a hard worker.I don't think you can question Roy to much this year about his work ethic,it's been widely reported that he has worked his butt off this year.Has Roy had a dominant game to date,no.Does the possibilty of him having a big game exist, yes.

Have we won a playoff game in the past 13 years? No. Does the possibility still exist? Yes.

Sounds crazy...

I haven't given up on us getting something out of Roy but, as I have stated all along, we lost in this trade. GG Jerry.

Point taken about the Giants game, but when it comes to the Denver game, I can't put all of that on Tony. Our WR's had CONSISTENCY issues with getting separation against the Denver D.

Where you at the game ? Because there are only two ways to tell if that's accurate or not:

1) Being at the game itself
2) Looking at the game films that coaches look at.

Otherwise, national TV coverage does NOT show receivers down field unless it's by replay or when the ball is thrown, and it so happened that the replays were showing receivers open and TR missing them that day.

My question is, why did Tony struggle? Obviously it wasn't just the WR's. The OL had a very suspect game, the WR's couldn't get open consistently even when Romo had time in the pocket.

OL, coverage, TR just simply missing them for whatever reason. It happens even to the best of them.

Roy was brought here to be that guy who can be Tony's go-to-guy in crucial situations. I have yet to see a big play where I can go, "Okay, THAT'S why Jerry traded for Roy!" I'm still waiting for that play.

No, he wasn't. Had that been the case, they would have simply kept doing with RW what they were doing with T.O., which was to plan the passing game around him.

This off-season, the coaches repeatedly said that they were going to spread the ball around in the passing game. That was welcomed news by the fans and some critics in the media who kept harping about the Cowboys being obssessed with getting the ball to T.O. last season.

With the Colts game, statistically Romo didn't have a good game, but he had a great completion percentage and made key plays on the final drive to go up 21-14 and then made a HUGE play to Fasano to keep the Colts' O off the field, then made a huge 3rd down conversion to Terry Glenn to seal the game. Those plays are often forgotten.

So you're saying even though, statistically, TR didn't have a good game, he did have a " great " game because of all the plays that you mentioned.

Yet, you don't credit Roy Williams' key catches against Carolina for first downs and his blocking which has contributed to the outstanding running offense as having " great games ".

They're two different entities... If RW11 had TO's work ethic he would have already been a star in Dallas.

BS..

There's absolutely nothing wrong with RW's work ethic. That myth was blown off the water this off-season.

RW is not as good as TO because TO happens to be one of the best WRs that's ever played in the NFL. There are ALOT of WRs who are not as good as T.O., including every single one that was drafted in this year's draft and/or signed as an undrafted free agent.

I think Roy can be a physical presence in the passing game,he's already shown the willingness to block downfield in the running game.

You are right, natural ability will only take you so far.Although it has been widely reported that Roy came to camp in tip top condition,to me that looks like he is trying to be better than just good enough.

BS... Hard work does pay off. Obviously RW11 didn't work hard enough in the offseason..

All that "togetherness" in the offseason and he can't get his boy Tony to look his way.. Something smells like trout.

I still believe that the reason for trading for Roy had to do with winning a championship last year.I believe Jerry saw an oppurtunity and took it,unfortunately it didn't work out last year.

You are 100% correct. Sometimes when you roll the dice it lands on snake eyes. Last year we got too injured, too divided, and too distracted.

So if I work hard enough, or work out with T.O., I'll be good enough to play on Sundays?

Anyone got Owens' phone number?

Jerry let TO go because he didn't want to pay him, same as Ellis and others.

Roy Williams may be the best BLOCKING WR in the history of the game... I would give up 2 first round picks for that! Now if it was someone besides Jerry drafting I wouldnt give up a 3rd for Roy Williams and then give him 9 million a year!

this trade is Galloway all over again as Jerrys kids made the same reaches they did 8 yrs ago.

"Doesn't matter what he costs, as long as he blocks!!"

So why did Jerry sign him to a three year extension about a year before he released him?
