Accountability 101 - RW Blames Romo for Everything... Vid added Post #73

And, here is todd Archer's take on Roy's weekly (Wednesday) media session:

The Tony Romo-to-Roy Williams connection has been more miss than hit this season - and last - and each Wednesday Williams stands by his locker answering the same questions.

Again. And again. And again.

And Williams keeps saying the same thing: he doesn't know why they're not connecting. He didn't and hasn't taken shots at Tony Romo or Jason Garrett like you know who would have done. He hasn't sulked that much but every receiver wants the ball at least some so there is some frustration.
"I'm the No. 1 receiver, but things are just going No. 2s way," Williams said.

Try as some might, Williams hasn't jumped offside, so to speak.

"If you continue to work out every day, it'll pay off," Williams said. "It'll pay off one of these 16 games."

Again, look at the source of the original story.

that is good to hear, thanks for posting that.

So did I. Was he not praising the team at every question? He said he was frustrated, but he was smiling and then he talked about the team being 5-2 and how excited he was.

The guys on GAC were saying all the reporters had left and just a couple guys were hanging around asking him questions when these comments were made.

exactly

That is really an excellent question. I've wondered about that exact same thing myself.

I would doubt that, he is talking about being in sync with Romo. Last week when Roy would break the rout off Romo would throw deep and when RW took it down field Tony would throw it short. For whatever reason they are not in sync with each other somehow they have to find a way to get on the same page with each other. As someone else pointed out maybe the best thing the coaches could do right now is simplify the routs using slants and post routs with RW to help build some confidence between Romo and RW

It seemed to me they tried to bait him and he side stepped it as best he could. Plus he was sweating a lot:laugh2:

BS

doubt it..i want proof

Can we all agree that Roy Williams is as good as a #3 WR, whose main role is blocking? Until he can prove otherwise, he is what he is, whether you want to defend him or chastise him.

Roy's catch % by year (and QB):

2004: 45.8% (Harrington, who completed 56% of his passes)
2005: 47.9% (Harrington & Garcia, 58%)
2006: 54.3% (Kitna, 62%) <-- Mike Furrey caught 67.1% of his passes by the way
2007: 60.6% (Kitna, 63%) <-- Furrey at 67.8%, Shaun McDonald at 62.2%
2008: 43.9% (mostly Orlovsky at 56%, then Romo at 61%)
2009: 37.8% (Romo, 60%)

I can agree with that. My biggest complaint is that Jethro was stupid enough to throw draft picks at Detroit to get him.

Well, apparently Archer was around during that exchange because his piece included at least one similar quote that wasn't in the video posted. And Archer came away from the exchange praising Roy for not throwing Tony under the bus.

I agree things are still not where they need to be and both he and Romo need to continue putting in the work to get things going.

His staying active in the game such as going down field blocking shows he is willing to do what he needs to do to help this team win and I think he knows that if he and Tony can get things worked out he will be able to contribute much more to the success of the team.

He is not asking for Romo to throw him more passes he is just frustrated that they are still not in sync with each other.

No but its close enough. Roy all but threw our franchise QB under the bus. Especially about how he hits Austin in stride.

Either you are watching a different video OR you didn't actually watch the video, because AT NO POINT IN THE VIDEO DID HE SAY THAT!!!!!!!
All I hear him doing is saying that he's frustrated that he an Romo aren't connecting YET he keeps praising the team and talks about how all he wants to do is win.

Yeah, what a cancer.

I guess most of the whiners on this thread really won't be happy until 81 comes back and ruins a locker room that seems to be pretty damn tight right now. The team is 5-2, yet all everybody wants to wine about is Roy Williams. Man, there are some gullible *** folks on this board - actually taking the word of an ESPN-based article regarding a Dallas Cowboy.

where have I seen this before?

article comes out from sketchy source saying sketchy things about one of our players...

in come the morons with their "OMG CUT HIM OMG TRADE HIM OMG HE'S A LOSER OMG WHAT A THUG!!!!" crap til about page 100 when...

the article is disproved...

lol.

I was commenting on whether it was possible that his eyeware was interfering with him "looking in" those passes which were good enough for him to catch (e.g. on or near his body after running a good route).

I can't wait get home to see this video and any others connected to this interview. If none of them actually have saying what was quoted, I'm gonna be po'ed.

Prepare to be PO'd. He says nothing of the sort in the video posted.

MacMahon is on GAC right now, and Galloway asked him point blank if Roy sounded disgruntled, like this could be the start of a problem.

Even MacMahon says no, that it was said very matter-of-factly and not with any tone of anger or resentment.

I agree he had a couple of passes including one that was a bit high but still catchable. However I think the real problem is not the drops it is the timing and lack of being in sync with each other that is frustrating Roy. I make no excuses for RW dropping some passes I expect all of our guys to come down with balls even throws that are a bit high or low or a little behind them.
