the same reason they gave him the salary to begin with. Minn can take his cap hit with no issues.

Any dollar you spend today is a dollar you don't have tomorrow given the rolling nature of the Salary Cap.

Just because you can spend money....doesn't mean you should.

This is cap finance 101.

They are 15 mill under the cap even with AP cap hit, They are willing to keep him and no matter how much you guys want AP he is not coming to Dallas. They have a very young QB who will benefit with a strong running game and if AP still has it as many here claim then it is not a bad move.

Where did the poll go?

I don't like wading through 200 pages on this topic. I just want to see, for the most part, what people on the board think; will AP be in Dallas or not?

The easiest way to find that out without reading every page and physically tallying results is to have a POLL.
That's why it's offered on this website.

AD coming to Dallas or not coming to Dallas has nothing to do with cap finance 101 that you don't understand. Stop framing one in relation to the other and you could learn something.

For instance what is better...having 30m of cap room or having 15? This is not a trick question.

That doesn't mean they want to pay it.

No saying they intend on keeping him is an indicator they are planning on doing just that. AP has said he wants more guaranteed money off the remainder of his contract in Minn, they very well could work a deal that benefits both sides on this
I do think Minn would be willing to pull a trade but only if they are getting a big return on the trade as in 1st rd pick. People keep saying he is the best RB in the NFL and they have been willing to pay that since they gave him the contract and now with a young and talented QB it very much benefits the Vikes

You don't understand what the word 'certain' means....or at a minimum don't understand how to use it correctly.

I'm certain macro evolution has happened, I'm certain Gods/unicorns/bigfoot don't exist, and I'm certain Adrian Peterson won't be playing for the Cowboys in 2015.

Plenty of evidence or lack of evidence can help you with certainty. Until evidence of Peterson coming to the Cowboys is provided, there is absolutely no reason for me to think he'll be playing for the Cowboys in 2015. It's really just that simple.

We can speculate about a phone call made a year ago between Peterson and Jones, it doesn't matter. Peterson is with the Vikings.

I don't understand? There are many big contract out there AP is one of them certainly not even the highest paid player in the league. Yes it is a big chunk and Minn was willing to pay it. Some may have a problem with it, that is fine but acting as if Minn has no choice are somehow are at other teams mercy in this deal is ridicules
I’ll leave it at that since as normal this is going to go round in round with no changes in views.

The Vikings will have absolutely ZERO leverage to get anything for him at that point. The more likely scenario IMO if he doesn't get moved this weekend is he gets out right released. Why would they want to be on the hook for any of his salary?

They're still on the hook. They can't get out from under it all.

So could pairing that young QB with a young (cheaper) RB. It's a tough decision for the Vikings IMO

Don't be so certain about Bigfoot.......

What is better as many here believe having the best RB in the entire NFL in the back field with a young and talented QB? If the object is to go out and get talent then they have accomplished that and with a very high pick in this draft they will be able to add to that. The object of the game is not who has the most cap space, no one won games because their cap space was lower.

They only have to pay him if he is on the roster week 1. If they release or trade him before that then his salary is off their books.

Once that so called young RB was able to prove themselves then sure defense would have to respect it. Mean time Minn is not giving AP away for nothing. If a team is willing to give up a 1st or multiple picks in later rds then sure they likely would do that but they will not be negation from a position of weakness, like they have no choice in the matter they do have a choice and being that their cap is in good shape even with AP on their roster only strengthens their position.
