They only have to pay him if he is on the roster week 1. If they release or trade him before that then his salary is off their books.

Still a cap hit, not to mention the huge attendance problem it will create. Teams are taking a wait-and-see.

Once that so called young RB was able to prove themselves then sure defense would have to respect it. Mean time Minn is not giving AP away for nothing. If a team is willing to give up a 1st or multiple picks in later rds then sure they likely would do that but they will not be negation from a position of weakness, like they have no choice in the matter they do have a choice and being that their cap is in good shape even with AP on their roster only strengthens their position.

MIN is far from being a true playoff contender. If I'm the GM there I move a 30 yr old disgruntled RB for the best deal I can get. Reducing my salary cap, getting talented young depth in return at a far cheaper price. No way I risk Ratliff territory and than be on the hook for 13 mil. I'd replace AD with Gurley in a heartbeat if I'm the Vikings.

I wish the Cowboys didn't have to move up so high to have a chance at Gurley.

I agree with you. The only angle we might be missing is ticket sales. A lot more people will come watch the games if Adrian is playing. Sometimes it's not all about winning....

No it's not. He OFF the books if he's dealt or released prior to week 1.

Still a cap hit from the signing bonus, about $3 million I think. Not to mention a HUGE backlash from the fans for letting him walk for nothing. He's the only thing now for them to come to see.

While that is true, I was thinking Minny would want to make a deal for the reasons we have all stated. And I would've thought AP would have been more open to a lower Salary, and I also was thinking Dallas would give up a 3 or 2.......All sides getting what they wanted,

But apparently, Minny has no problem with paying AP 13 million and AP has no real problem playing in Minny for that amount, and Dallas thinks they are making a Super Bowl push with 4th round rookie RB as lead dog. Really bad planning on the FOs part imho. They were aware Murray was in a contract year and they most likely were going to have to replace him....

Dez is upset with the Cowboys should we move him out? lol There are many so called disgruntled players in the league, Players say a lot of things in the end AP is getting close to 13 mill, I'm sure he will get over it.

All the Vikings fans I've talked to want him gone. They're ready to move on and have high hopes for Teddy B as the new face of the franchise.

That's by far one of the worse comparisons yet. Dez YOUNG stud in the prime of his career. AD OLD stud in the twilight of his career. Terrible comparison.

Murray was a 3rd rd. We don't know how the draft will play out for the Cowboys and whom or where we may draft a RB. I think the FO is doing a good job and part of doing a good job in my view is not giving up top picks for a 30 year old RB. I think Dallas has done a great job of using their draft picks wisely and getting the mid level FA, the results have been great now is not the time to go out and give up picks for an older player who will still want a hefty pay check. If Dallas was unwilling to give Murray 7 to 8 mill why would they want to turn around and give it to a 30 year old RB?

Well, if they release him outright, he'll be here. I have no doubt.

Adrian Peterson: Playing in Dallas 'would be nice'
The Minnesota Vikings have no intention of trading Adrian Peterson. The Dallas Cowboys have no intention of trading for a veteran.

Those facts won't stop the running back from dreaming about one day playing in Dallas.

While attending the Dallas Mavericks-Houston Rockets NBA Playoff game on Tuesday, Peterson was broached by local reporters about returning to his home state.

It would be a lot better than "nice"

It's royalty!

I disagree. I think its great planning by the FO. Murray an injury prone RB vs. deep rookie class and possibly obtaining AD. Why are so many quick to think drafting a rb is doom and poor planning? As opposed to paying a guy an inflated salary that has only finished 1 season in the NFL. The smart play IMO is exactly what the boys did. Also, whether folks like it or not the coaching staff likes the addition of DMC.

No it is not, according to people here AP is still a stud best RB in the NFL and those who want him so bad just think Miss has no choice in the matter and will just get rid of him for little to nothing. This does not even include what AP will want in terms of contract where ever he ends up.

AD ran a 10.26 100m in high school. If he can still get 11.5 (without pads), then his age is not a factor.

Every RB is just one step from a career-changing injury, heck every FB player is.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out. But with a boatload of moves about to happen, I would not bet against him becoming a Cowboy.

why not we are his dream team, you would think a chance to play with your dream team he would jump at it. I guess maybe we are not so much a dream team after all. lol
