So average get's 1,800 yds. Great gets what? 2,500+ yds?

Murray is a good back but not a great back. That Oline had a lot to do for him to get those 1800 yards. The Cowboys thought that also or they would have signed him. Something turned them away from giving him 8 to 9 Mil a season. Injury prone, worn down and huge crop of RB in the draft could be some of the reasons but my feeling is they want AP badly.

So Murray doesn't have speed or vision. But somehow managed 1,800+ yds. What does he have then? I guess it's luck. Emmitt did all his work on his own too I'm guessing. The so called Great Wall of Dallas didn't help at all for Emmitt. Neither did having Moose Johnson blocking.

The best OLINE in football. ;)

Cowboys don't want to pay ANY rb, 27 or older. Including AP at age 30. Because they know this draft is one of the deepest in rb talent.

It's counter-intuitive to expect the Cowboys to pursue Adrian Peterson. Their FA MO over the last two years has been measured and deliberate... 'minimize risk and don't pay aging players based on past performance'. Peterson is STILL a running back who will turn thirty before the season begins.

If they punch another RB button this off-season it will likely be 'Reset' - i.e. a draft pick.

Kyle Orton and Jay Ratliff pulled this same thing with the Cowboys successfully AND the Cowboys had to eat their salaries. The Vikings actually benefit financially from cutting him. Those guys were bit players who the team paid to go away because they were locker room poison and they're still paying for the decision. Imagine the same scenario except it's the face of the franchise and you're bottom line is going to benefit from cutting him. They're going to say anything they can to increase their leverage in a trade, but Cowboys don't have to look far to see analogous situations and they did not turn out how many in this thread are assuming this one will.

Disagree AP is a stud can play for another 3 to 4 years and not miss a beat. If we can get him for 6 to 8M this guy is good for 2000 Yds.

Jerry WILL get his man. Peterson will be a Cowboy. The only question is when.

The longer this plays out the better its works out for the Cowboys. Minnisota can hold on to him until July if they want too and then cut him. By this time every team will have there RB position solidified. The longer they wait the cheaper he will cost.

Im sure Jerry and Peterson have been in constant communications and Jerry knows the Cowboys are the ONLY team Peterson will play for. Peterson probably told Jerry he will refuse to renigotiate a new contract with any team he does not want to be traded too. No team will trade for him with his current contract. Therefore Peterson has all the power.

Everyone's saying Dallas cant afford him? Has Peterson even made any statements about how much money it will cost to sign him to a new contract. I say he plays for the Cowboys for 6 mil a year. Anyone else 13 Mil. Therefore nobody accept Dallas can afford him.

Lets not forget that Minn. needs to address their RB needs for 2016 too. Do they go with what they have on the roster? Do they Draft a RB? Its pretty clear Peterson will never play there again. They can hold on to him as long as they want but sooner or later will need to cut him.

Jerry knows to be patient and that its only a matter of time till Peterson wears the STAR! Mark my words!

Mc Fadden was signed as an insurance policy and will be released when Peterson is signed.

Bottom line is the Vikes are not going to just give Peterson away, they want to trade him for something. That is why all the talk is "we are not going to release him" is nothing more than the Vikes trying to drive the trade market and get a high pick from somebody.

The league is not dumb, they can see through this a mile away. They can say anything they want, but the bottom line is that no team in the NFL is going to pay a player $15 million when the player flat out says he wants to go elsewhere. We have experience with this, see Kyle Orton and Jay Ratliff, when players decide they don't want to play for you anymore, its almost impossible to "force them to play". Best case scenario is to just cut bait and move the player out because the last thing you want is disgruntled players in the lockerroom. So I guarantee Peterson is not going to be a Viking this year.

The only question is going to be which team pony ups the picks for Peterson? I could see a trade of maybe a 3rd this year and a 5th next year that could go higher based on Peterson's performance. Something like that might be doable. I really think it comes down to us and Arizona as the two teams in the running for Peterson. I would be willing to bet my posting privilege for a month that Peterson either ends up in Arizona or Dallas.

AP salary is guaranteed once that kick off is aired on the 1st game. Until then...... Nothing.

I still say he's a Cowboy sometime in August

If Peterson gets hurt (or claims he is hurt) in an OTA or training camp, his entire $15 million salary is guaranteed for the season. That is why some teams will "lock out" a player so he doesn't show up to OTA and after the first play grab his leg and says my hamstring is pulled, I cant play.

Faking injuries is one of the oldest tricks in the book when a player doesn't want to play for a certain team, but that team wont trade or release him. Not saying Peterson is going to go down this road, just saying there have been players in the past accused of faking injuries to get off certain teams...........see Jay Ratliff.

I look at our team needs, and what the draft has available, and I think to myself, "We could get CJ Mosley to cover at 1-tech, Brandon Spikes to help at MLB, and probably have enough money left over to look at someone that can help play nickelback... or we could sign Peterson" and I just don't get the move to fill one need that would be easily filled in the draft instead of filling three needs that might be harder to fill in the draft.
