Too lazy to hit the link? Okay.
Per Troy Aikman, himself, not some lame opinion of his motives...
- To me, Dallas is one of those teams that no matter the situation in the game, I just feel like they are going to do it. I feel like Tony is going to make a play or TO will make a catch and they will come back.
- For people that didn't watch the New England game closely and look at the final score and say that got blown out, I disagree with them. That was a seven point game going into the fourth quarter and could have been a different game completely had Dallas gotten a couple of breaks. I still say if Dallas played New England 10 times, they may not win 5 but they would win 3 or 4; I really do. Dallas is better than Indy, San Diego and more complete than Pittsburgh as well.
- If Dallas makes it to the SB, no matter who the AFC team is, this is not going to be an automatic win for them. Dallas is that good.
- The best team I played on was the 1992 team. How would that team stack up against these Patriots? Good question. Mercury Morris said the 1972 Dolphins would steam-roll these guys. I try to be a little more objective. If you took the top five teams in '92 or even ten, I think those teams would be better than the best five or ten from this year. I think there is a lot of parity. I think New England, Indy and even this Dallas team could compete against us. I'm not saying they would win but they would compete. They big advantage we had was depth. These teams don't have as much. We would lose one player to injury and his back-up would be a Pro Bowler next year.
Pure hate right?
Wow, I've never heard Troy talk that much about the Cowboys! The truth is that, because Fox covers the NFC, & Dallas is by far the most popular team in the conference, Troy is stuck doing a lot of Cowboys games, since he & Buck are the #1 team for Fox.
Troy does his best not to talk about himself or the teams he played on. He wants to talk about what is going on in the field right now. He also works hard at balancing his remarks about the 'Boys and whoever they're playing. I admit, when he kept on with the kudos on Campbell, I said, "Shutup, Troy. Why don't you talk about Tony for a minute." But, you know, at the time, the 'Skins offense was on the field, & a young, up & coming QB was playing very well against the best team in the NFC.
We have to realize that we're not listening to a local Dallas radio or TV station. We're watching a nationally played game between two teams. The fact that Aikman played for one of them should play no part in his comments, and he works hard at being objective. Man, I can't believe how well he deflects attention away from himself whenever Buck makes a reference to his playing days. I know I would have a hard time not patting myself on the back if I had accomplished what he has.
By the way, for the person who had to audacity to refer to Aikman as a "has-been", you don't know what the heck you're talking about. This man is a class act all the way, no matter who he played for. Everything he does, he strives to do it with style & greatness. He articulates a game better than most I've heard.
I would much rather listen to someone who gives the other guy his due, than to someone like Michael Irvin go on about how great he was.
